RICHMOND, Va. (The Blaze/AP) — Virginia Tech officials say a police officer and another person have been shot and killed on the school’s campus, where 32 students and faculty died in a 2007 rampage that was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
A news release from the school says the police officer had pulled someone over in what was a routine traffic stop Thursday. The officer was shot and killed during the traffic stop. The Collegiate Times (Virginia Tech student newspaper) is reporting, via Twitter, that there may be two culprits and that one has been apprehended. The paper’s web site has come down, but alerts can be followed here:

officer on a traffic stop.....3rd party walks up and kills him and runs off......hes confronted by a 2nd officer and kills himself....
thats what we are being told.....no idea if person in car and shooter knew eachother
