Getting pumped for College Football of course, but I'm sick of reading about all the violations that are being uncovered daily it seems. I think if you dig deep enough I think you would find some kind of violation for 99% of teams. The pie is definitely big enough to be split up among the players and universities but would this open up even more problems? Coach Steve Spurrier was quoted the other day as saying it might be something College Football should seriously consider.

Wouldnt you in turn need to pay all college athletes then? Once the rest of them see the football players are being paid, they are going to want a piece as well

Yes this would open a can of worms, especially if you were a 2 sport star and high school and you had to choose you would probably go where the money is.

As we have found out most are getting paid in some way anyway. Why not get it under control?

Lots of them are most likely getting paid. I just dont see how they can control it either way. Just seems too hard. I think not paying them is the easiest option, they just have to try and watch over it

who says it will be 'UNDER CONTROL' though gobbler? dont you think that if every player gets $5k a game (or whatever it would be), that the better athlete and big stars would be lured in by colleges/boosters paying him $15k a game somehow by giving him the extra $10k under the table??
i just dont think there is really a way to stop it. |

Id still think they would be inclined to trade items for gifts. Id much rather pay try and pay for items with Jerseys, autographs, etc than money. Your saving money in the long run

Ya but c'mon the revenue in College Football is huge, you figure they could spread it around. May also keep players from leaving early putting a better product on the field.

NFL players are paid and look at half those idiots. You would have a lot of players going to schools just for the money taking away from some of the smaller markets.
I doubt they would stay longer, although who knows. If they stand to make more in the NFL then I see them leaving early

Straight cash......No........They basically are getting a "free" ride as it is to play a sport. Add in all the food, clothing, tutors...etc.... and they are ahead of 99% of the college student body.

Ya them and the basketball bring in 99% of the revenue for most universities so they should be entitled to a share of the spoils. Notre Dame wouldn't have a women's volleyball team without football.
