Question Snowplowing advice needed

Got a new blacktop driveway along with concrete apron and i want to hire someone to do my winter snowplowing.. but before i do.. is there certain plow that has the rubber bottom?? Or are all the plows the same?? Just don't want some hack sparking his plow off my new shit.. Any info would be appreciated..

I dropped big coin over the summer on home improvements and i'll snap a gear if something was to happen to it..

Trossi-
I own a landscape/snowplowing company. When you hire the guy to do it, just ask him if he has "shoes" on his plow. This allows the the plow to sit about 1/4" off the surface. Without the shoes, the plow could possibly tear into NEW blacktop. Be careful there. GL buddy.

BTW- i think you said you were in Rochester.. Let me know how much they are getting out there for the season rate.

All the ones I see are hardfaced. On another note I am thankful I don't live in the snow. Can't imagine having to worry about snow each and every morning. Hope things work out but I am sure you will end up with a scratch or 2. GL

No prob. That a good price. We get about $300 for that size up here. Our contracts run thru the 31st of March though.. Make sure you ask them what the charge is for plowing after 3/1.. We know all to well the snow flies later than that around here.

I was thinking same thing

an F-150 is plenty for plowing your own driveway or just buy a snowblower.

The size of the truck is only have the battle. For one, it MUST be 4*4, secondly, you must have a "snow plow pkg" on the truck. basically, it is a bigger alternator, battery and a couple other things needed for plow.

A Ranger would not be able to handle a plow. Dont think the frame would fit.

I have seen plows on rangers and s-10s and such they are common. There is no question that it can be done and obviously 4x4 helps, but you can probobly do without it if you have a flat driveway.
