So there I was....
Face down on a table with my bare ass to the world. The door is wide open so people off the street can come in and view my precarious position. There are needles being jabbed into my nether-regions and no English is being spoken, only Chinese and Korean, neither of which I can understand, at least not to any conversationalist degree.
Then an electrode is jabbed into my glute and begins pulsating, flexing and relaxing the muscle in rapid succession. I am left alone with this peculiar sensation for a good 10 - 15 minutes, involuntarily flexing my glute. A heat lamp is positioned to shine where the sun does not. Soon, I am propped upward in, for lack of a better description, a doggie-style position where additional needles are prodded through my lower back, upper legs, and all areas in-between with my ass thrusted toward the not-so-loving hands of the 80 year old Chinese woman who is still holding a conversation with my Korean wife in a broken Korean/Chinese dialect. Additional needles are applied to the back of my knee, my feet, and my wrist. The pain is akin to a bee-sting, but some of them are far deeper and more painful. An occasional jab causes some involuntary muscle spasms, but I am told (I think) to relax. Finally all needles are removed and I am told that I am done. I'm asked how I feel and quite honestly all areas where the needles where are very tense at this time. And I'm a bit light headed and sleepy. I have never felt better. I HIGHLY recommend acupuncture. But you gotta go to an oriental part of town and have it done by an old Chinese woman with 40+ years experience. I am a believer!! |

Acupuncture is great. I had it done for plantar fasciitis. They put the needles in, said "relax and take a nap" I thought..."who and the hell can sl......" I was out like a light. Best nap I've ever had and my foot felt better too.

After my family doctor cut me off tylenol with codeine in fear I could get addicted to it she recommended I go for 3-5 massage therapy sessions. I mentioned acupuncture but all she said was start with massage therapy. Acupuncture is still an option cuz I believe in fighting (muscular) pain with more pain to dissipate it. That's also the basis in military training.
