Soldier talks and I was glued to every word

Last night we had a party for a kid that grew up with my neice and nephew. He has returned home from Iraq after spending 15 months in the middle of what he called hell. I talked with him for over an hour to try and what he told me makes ask why. Adam is in charge of 80% of the communications in Baghdad. He talked in depth about what its like to go to work every day. He has seen things blow up not 20 yards away from him. He has had bullets hit walls just inches away from his face. He lives in fear each and every day. Adam knows the sound off each and every bomb that is used on them daily. Listening to the news is something he will not do. He laughed when he talked about something being blown up in the news, " that happens every day and its never just one thing". Adam was on his way to work one day and one of his friends rolled up in a jeep and stopped him. He was standing there talking when all of a sudden a car bomb rolls in and destroys an area where he would have been had he not stopped for a talk. He talked about things being blown up such as the little shit hole trailers they live in only to be completely cleaned up by morning. All that remains is the scrap metal that is blown in one direction into the walls surrounding their living quarters. He talked about the guys that actually leave the base that go out into the field and the looks in their eyes when they return. I have known Adam since he was a baby and the look in his eye is something that was hard to see. He says we will never be able to leave there because if we do they will follw us here. They pay their people $2000 for killing one service person and $10,000 if they can catch one and bring him back alive. Money goes along ways there and a person could live for years off of $2000. When they blow up things with car bombs the family is then given the money for the deaths they cause. Its a sick sick world there and now that we have interrupted their lives we will NEVER be able to leave. Adam talked about this theatre that has hooks up at the top on ropes. Its round and the seating is above. Down on the bottom are cages that are filled with wild animals. When Sadam was there they would go into town every so often and pick women off the streets and bring them back to the theatre. They would then all have sex with the women and if they pleased the men then they would shoot them and then hang them on the hook and lower them down to the starving animals below. If they did not please the women then they would hang them alive and send them down to be eaten. The sick stories he told were enough to send me home scared for Adams life. He has 7 months left over there and then he comes home for good. These kids will need years of counseling to get back to what they once had in their lives. The look in his eye I will never forget and he says that while he is home he can not forget what and where he has been. I talked about loosing himself and then finding himself and then loosing himself again. These kids are really giving up a lot and some may never recover. Adam is not his real name but in 7 months we will have a party for Adams safe return. God bless all these kids fighting over there.

thats war man..yah you get scarred for life but they will get support if they seek it at home.
i said from the beginning we should of bombed iraq like we did hiroshima but this is the kind of battle we get when you try to preserve structures. its much harder to win.
you should have asked him about the objectives that their units did acheive successfully.
no doubt sadam was the hittler of today.

LOL you dont see the similarity in the 2 men. both killed certain ppl they ruled for no justifiable reason. they gathered wealth of those they persecuted. and they both were guilty of crimes against humanity.
all i can say is WOW!!
a person cant see that...

If you get a chance talk to these young kids about the world they have lived in. Its described as hell and no one should be going thru this. They added 7 months on to his stay with out him being able to say yes or no. He is coming over for dinner tomorrow night and I can hardly wait. He says he refuses to leave there until his stay is over because he does not want to go back and have to rebuild to what his life has become. No relaxing for these young kids. He is bringing pictures to share with my family. God bless these kids.

yah i agree to that add on time thats a bunch of crap, but its in the contract that they signed although its kinda like a disclaimer that is never imposed (until now). the did it across the board, i am kinda surprised he is talking about so soon tho but that is a good sign of somebody who would have any easier time adjusting when he returns.

He has 7 months left to spend in Baghdad and then they are going to keep him for another 2 months in the states to make sure he is ready to return to the States with all his marbles. If he says its ok I will post some of the pictures he has. He has a picture of a AK-47 that is gold. They hide it at a place called the lost lake. He tried to take a picture of lost lake but his camera was taken from him. He has tried twice and each and every time they come out of no where to take the camera's. Crazy world over there.
