Spartacus

Is anybody watching this on Starz? Started maybe a tad slow but in the last few episodes (pit and theoceles) the show has become pretty impressive.

The battle against Theoceles was better than any battle from Gladiator imo.

There's a bit too much male nudity but I suppose maybe that ropes in the girls. Very interesting and well-made show, i have not seen a thread for this yet, anybody watching?

I didn't know there was a Spartacus series.

But I do know about the Spatacus movie (1960). Before my time but saw but saw it as kid. Won't be surprised to see a remke in the next year or two.

Also, remember my older brother's record collection and in it was a Spartacus album:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Spartacus is an album by the German group Triumvirat. Spartacus is a concept album based on the Roman gladiator who led the 3rd slave uprising in 73–71 BC. The lyrics were written by Hans Bathelt, with contributions by Jürgen Fritz. It was originally released in 1975 on the EMI label, and later distributed in the U.S. by Capitol. It debuted at number 27[1] on the Billboard album charts.

After this album, Helmut Köllen left the band to start a solo career. Two years later, he died of carbon monoxide poisoning when he was in his car, in the garage, listening to his own compositions on the car's cassette player."

LOL tonight's episode was so excellent gory, with kills everywhere it's worth a bump here just to wait until a few folks have seen this week's episode, truly epic,

this may become my favorite thread of all time if nobody ever actually admits to watching it

LOL awesome that it is that nobody has ever admitted to watching this series

The season finale last week, titled, "Kill Them All"

You have never, ever in your life seen a more gory, more graphic final episode of a show on TV, or even in a movie. Literally, every single character who is not a gladiator was killed in completely graphic kill scenes, swords through foreheads, fists, women, children, even a woman assassinating a 15-year old boy who ordered the death of her husband.

Just telling you guys, because at some point you will catch one of the battle scenes from this series and freak that it's so impressive

LOL please do not respond to this thread, I have greatly enjoyed the fact that nobody has ever admitted to watching the series. (one person watched the first episode).

if you liked 300, or if you liked Gladiator, take the best parts of each, mix them together and you've got Spartacus

nothing like a bad guy getting thrown over a 2000 foot cliff in slow motion, then watching from down below as he splatters onto the rocks below. fun for the whole family

As a final post for this season I would also like to add that Spartacus is a true story, one they are interpreting however they choose

But if you have ever read up on history, the story here is absolutely amazing, and season 1 ends where the gladiators have just taken over their gladiator school

history tells us that these gladiators formed a band with other slaves throughout the countryside, eventually massing a force of 70,000 that is unstoppable until the romans finally send multiple legions from their far off wars to finally end things

in this final episode, history estimates that 70 people were killed in the "ludus", or gladiator school/villa. Trust me that you've never seen gore at this level, and it's unbelievably satisfying if you watch the series from start to finish.

cannot wait for season 2, as the slaves take over parts of italy

WOO HOO QUADZ! I sent you 3 reward points for being the first to admit to watching it.

The surround sound and video production is really amazing, like watching a 300 movie every week. I agree also that season 2 should be great.

The star playing Spartacus came down with a treatable form of Hodgkin's lympoma, so they are delaying season 2 for a while. Currently there is talk they will make a 6-episode prequel about Spartacus' earlier life
