Thumbs down Are split carries for running backs ruining fantasy football?

Anyone else hate all of the split carries?

Running backs can't handle 30 carries any more?

Hate it for fantasy too. You need your team to score, run the ball & now hope it's your guys turn.

Not many backs that get all the carries

Some teams do every other series for main backs & still have a 3rd down back

WTF?

Kinda... I went with the QB first approach a while ago though,.. then again im not a fantays player. I think not just split carries, but the fact more and more teams spread it out now.

Nothing worse than having your guy carry the workload only to not get the TDs at the end

Not only fantasy though. Take the Dolphins for instance, they don't let the running back get in any rhythm whethers it's Ronnie or Ricky. Hate it

Coaching decison, if Miami was in the hunt at least your back would be healthy. This sounds more like a Dolphin fan who is upset that they never let one of the backs get in a rhythm for a whole game. Don't blame you either, sooner or later the team needs to go with the hot hand.

I agree with rhythm for the guy, but it does help a lot having a guy real fresh in the 4th qtrs while most of the defense is getting tired.

I guess but most good backs get stronger as the game goes on

Steel - yeah they healthy & I guess I understand with Ricky cause he's older. But yeah go with the hot hand. Sometimes Ronnie has a nice series & they just bring Ricky in, instead of seeing Ronnie build on it. So frustrating

Yes, I have Jamal Charles. Every time that he busts a 30 yard run down to the 2 yard line and they put Jones in to finish it off I want to throw something through my TV!!

shit's definitely changed the last few years because of split carries....it's a wr league now, used to be you almost had to take rbs 1-2 but now it's not like that.....split backs, 3rd down backs, change of pace backs, goal line backs....it's a crap shoot now

Yup one of my better teams this year I used a WR all year as a flex rather than some back who might get 10 carries

exactly, could you imagine 5 yrs ago not having 3 rbs starting if you could? lol my rule was always put the guy in the flex spot who would get the most touches but had to revamp the way i drafted....i'm on a break now, but when i start back up again at some point i'll be looking at a new draft strategy

nail on head here... I think this is the case a lot of times...

even College... A&M - had two backs, then one breaks his leg and the other one goes off for 5 or 6 straight 100 yd games... a few upt to 150 yds...

some guys get stronger as they go... gain confidence AND get in a rhythm...

it's all about being political and holding carries over guys' heads (I think)... has kind of gone from... I'll give you some carries to... f it.. I'll just split the carries so I don't have to pay for a #1 back and I don't have to here about not getting enough carries... damn kids! lol

My league just like most others, QB's and WR's seem to be more important now.

Hey Dr. J,

Ya know. A few years ago, I was unconventional and told my friend that WR is the most important position in Fantasy Football. You have to fill 2 sometimes 3 guys at this position. Stud WR's are more reliable to draft than Stud RB's in Fantasy Football Drafts. Mainly because of what you are mentioning, split carries, injuries, normal RB filling the spot and just getting numbers cause all he has to do is run forward cause the linemen are building the holes. With a WR, its a tougher position and all on that guy to put up numbers. You can always find a fantasy RB boomer later or in FAs. I have won Fantasy Football Leagues two straight years and working on a third with this methodology.

For instance... This year we drafted Andre Johnson, Jennings, Larry Fitzgerald in the first three rounds. Everyone laughed at us, but guess what. We then drafted Arian Foster and Darren McFadden in the 4th and 5th round. And until recently, RunDMC was top 3 in fantasy. We also ended up with BGE, Knowshon, and some others. We also snagged Mike Vick off FAs. We are crushing the league.

So to answer your question. No, it is not ruining fantasy football. You just have to think outside the box. The thing that is pissing me off is I figured this WR thing out three years ago and the ESPN Fantasy gurus are just talkin bout it this year. Anyhow... Key is WR dr J. and drafting an overload of average RBs that could boom and eying that FA wire.
