Sports Tickers

Who ever designs the sports tickers for espn should be imediately fired. I am so fukin sick of who completed a pass for Montana st. who gives a dam. show the scores and shut the hell up. We dont need womens basketball or soccer or any of the bullshit of who wiped their ass. Just show the games that i played and the ones that i should have played.
Its out of hand.

I agree... Personally I just want to see the score and know what point they are at in the game... if I then want to check it out further, I'll find the game on another channel or go get on Al Gore's internet and check it out...

At least we have so many other options now. I'll check my laptop if I'm home or my Blackberry if I'm out at a casino or something.

I remember back in the days when ESPN ticker was the best option. If the game you were playing wasn't ranked teams, you were screwed. I'd have some small-to-mid-size school in football or hoops, and you'd sit staring at the ticker waiting for it to come around. Don't look away for a second, because that's when you game would go by. I still remember knowing the pattern: after the Top 25, it was alphabetically by away team, but they couldn't show them all each time, and right before your game was about to show, that's when the little tab would slide over to NHL or something, so you'd have to wait through 8 other sports to get back around to yours again.

LOL this is soooo true!!! I remember waking up in the middle of the night, and waiting forever for the ticker to come around so I could see if Farliegh Dickinson or some other stupid school covered the number!!

The options now are great compared to then!

Then they show the same score but now the other team punted back, so the football logo is now over the other team.

WHO CARES! That's the thing I dislike the most. No score change, but we really needed to know that team punted.

I used to have one of those Sports Pagers through BetCris. Used it for about 6 or 7 years. A couple of my buddies had them, too. We'd be out in a bar or whatever, and you couldn't go more than a minute without clicking through it to see what was going on.

If you broke it or whatever, you'd call and BetCris would send you a new one overnight. Had a friend that took a bad beat on a game, and as soon as he saw the score on his pager, he threw it into a pool. Called and got a new pager the next day.

What about the real olden days when headline news ticker was the only thing we had?

I remember being glued to that thing for what seemed like ages waiting for a nhl game to come up or something, or even waiting for that "every 30 min" sports update or whatever it was at like :20 and :50 past each hour

The headline news ticker, that was like 1994 lololololol

i agree with the stats...scores are fine...but disagree with the other sports...seeing they are suppose to be the worldwide leader in sports the other sports should be listed

tiger update is so lame...dude is irrelevant in terms of performance on the course...and this tournament has 20 people in it...big deal...not like it is a full field

also annoyed by monday night and sunday night score update...hell..the score usually doesn't even change and they put it up there...and showing who has ball and where...who cares...if someone is watching a ncaab game they probably don't even care about the prime time nfl game anyway

I started reading this thread and immediately thought of this. That and CNN's update at like 19 and 49 of the hour.
