Steven Tyler Passes Out, Breaks Face

Steven Tyler is recovering after passing out in the shower of his South America hotel room from food poisoning and dehydration.

As Spinner recently reported, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler had a nasty fall in a hotel bathroom in Paraguay over the weekend. The singer was rushed to the hospital where he underwent treatment for a busted lip, cut forehead and two broken front teeth. And from the ghastly picture that Tyler sent NBC's 'Today Show,' it looks like the frontman may have rocked a little too hard while singing in the shower.

Speculation arose about Tyler's sobriety after the incident caught wind around the world, but the 'Idol' judge assured Matt Lauer that this had nothing to do with substance abuse, and everything to do with dehydration after food poisoning. "I get that people think that," Tyler said of rumors that he had fallen off the wagon. "It still bothers me a little, but it's something that I have to deal with for the rest of my life."

"Being in the program, it's something we have to expect. People thinking that is natural and normal. We flew last night from Paraguay after that incident and [now] we're in Argentina for two hours. And anyone who knows anyone who uses substances wouldn't be up at this hour having a talk with Matt Lauer and the rest of America."

Despite his injuries, Aerosmith continued their South American tour and even broke a house attendance record, prompting Tyler to say that "Life is beautiful," despite his broken face. He even managed to play some harmonica with the busted tooth!

"Frankly, I just passed out," he said. "I was in the shower and I got nauseous and I started to get sick and I just fell on my face. I just passed out and woke up with the water on," Tyler continued, joking that he fainted due to Montezuma's Revenge. Despite the fall, we're glad he's back at equilibrium. Watch what you eat, buddy!
