Lightbulb Stock Contest begins March 1st - Input wanted

HEy guys - thinking of doing something like this.

I would like your input and keep in mind these things; I want to keep it as simple as possible so new people would play and easy to score own picks/investments. I am not going to change much but your input is appreciated. I will post an official contest just before the 1st of MArch.

Stock Contest begins March 1st.

1. Contest begins on March 1st
2. Each investor will begin with $10,000 bankroll 3. You can join at anytime but if you join after March 5th - you will begin with a $5,000 bankroll. If you join after March 12th - you will begin with a $3,000 bankroll.
4. You may trade Monday-Friday only
5. You may only trade on anything listed on NYSE and NASDAQ 6. No short selling (do I need to explain this) 7. You are scoring your own investment thread.
8. Everyone will use their own thread titled something like - Jack's March Investments

I think he's hoping this can be a self maintenance deal where every one keeps track of their own progress in their thread. We probably should choose a stock site (yahoo maybe?) to get quotes from if there are any disputes or questions about quoted share prices...

yahoo is very easy to use, only problem is that you can manipulate it after the fact and cheat. if it is to be self-scored we would definitely have to do it in the mall.

having it centrally scored allows one person to keep track and u don't have to worry about number fudging. either way is fine, just figured i'd reach out.

TN - I am looking to do a contest inside the forum

Jimmy - I would like assistance from people to oversee scoring but Dom is right - I would like it to be a self scoring, low maintenance type of thing. If anyone should cheat then they would be disqualified and not wanted here.

But again would love for help with watching over some things so that we can make it successful.

Any input from anyone on rules itself?

Again to keep it simple I would recommend limiting the contest to market trades, i.e. I am buying X amount of shares of company XXX at the market price at the time of my post.

Limit trading, stop losses, and all the other variations of stock orders can be incorporated in future contests as more interest in this forum gets generated. Any thoughts on this?

i think we should have stop orders in for one reason, a lot of us work and can't get on the site from the office so we can only buy and sell pre or post market. i think at the very least we should be able to have good for day limit orders.

I'd be cool with that too since it would still be easy to track, and if the trade doesn't go through it will require members to stay active and repost it the next day if they were chasing a certain price.
