Stock Picking Contest

We are going to try a small stock picking contest for those who are interested. For those not interested – please stay away from thread.

Jimmy K has volunteered to score the contest.

The contest will begin the day after Labor Day on Tuesday 9/5/06 and will end on November 3rd.

Here will be the basic rules

1. Each member starts with $25,000 bank roll.
2. Contest runs for 2 months.
3. Members can only pick stocks, no options, mutual funds, bonds, etc.
4. Time and price of purchase will be at time of post. Anything after close or beginning of trading will be priced at next mornings opening price (no after hours trading).
5. Jimmy will post standings every Sunday evening.
6. Purchases/Sales of shares in portfolio must include number of shares wished to trade.
7. Everything will be posted in this thread.

Each member would have to post their picks. So if someone wanted to add msft at 2pm and the price was 27.15 and then someone else wanted msft at 3pm and the price was 27.25 each member would receive the shares at their true cost.

You can register and join through the first week. The last day to join would be 9/8

No limit on the amount of trading.

Jimmy will answer all questions before hand so if you have some post them here. Any member here can play.

Since we are not sure what the participation level will be the contest prizes will be something small. If there is good participation we can do this again in the future and I will up the prizes.

PRIZES -

1st place - $100 cash
2nd place - DVD player
3rd place - CM gear (hat, visor, shirt)

* I have the right to terminate this contest or adjust prizes if participation is to small at the end of the first week

I won one of these in college; but I don't really know what I'm doing.

No short selliing or stop/limit orders this go around. I want to keep this thing simple for the first contest. It will allow me to get a gauge on how much work it will be. I'm hoping for a big turnout and I want to keep it as simple and clean as possible. If everything goes well and the bookkeeping doesn't take a lot of work then we will talk about expanding it in the next contest.
