Stock Tip

Buy Western Union. At about only twenty bucks per share you can buy lots of shares and not just because of internet gambling it's expanding at supersonic pace. You got any idea how much money is sent to mexico, to africa, to asia. Western Union is building outlets all over the country and it ain't for telegrams cause everyone has cell phones by now. This is the chance to get in early on a stock which is going sky high.

And we all know how much they charge to send dough and basically no cost other than fixed assets for goods sold.

The same guy that gave me this info gave me fed ex about ten years ago reasoning the internet was becoming a shopping mall and someone was going to be delivering the pckgs. I bought in at about 50 and today it's over 120 and on top of that it's split twice. That's the only other tip i've ever gotten from him but the reasoning is similar.

Actually seems like a good tip... It would be nice to have someone analyze their numbers...Doesn't RJB do that stuff for a living? NYMANE?...Figure we might as well get someone who really knows this stuff to take a peak. I would do it, but I am an amateur at this stuff.

Romes,

No Stash? Seems like he knows a few things about stocks....

they also make money from converting the money into foreign currency. I would guess they make a decent buck from some of the South American countries.

WU is the closest thing we have to a "pure" monopoly int he States. Moneygram is JUST stepping up efforts to get noticed.

WU had the market cornered on this for so long. The amount of time they have been operating shows obvious signs of stability and with the US market facing difficulties in sending money internationally it should increase revenue for WU.

5 years ago my economics teacher said no true monopoly exist. I blurted out WU and he couldnt figure out a rival to WU. They dont really have any competition and moneygram charges way more.

Operating cost are low for WU

im no pro though so...

My take on WU....

I currently have a position in WU. Here is a lil about it:

*Market Cap of about 17.5 Billion
*Current Revenue about 4.5 Billion
*Current Profit of about 2 Billion
*PE of 19 with a forward PE of 17 (this is pretty good)
*52 WK high/low is 18 and 24. Current price is 22, so its right in the middle.
*Has beat earning 2 qtrs in a row.
*Stock was just upgraded on 3/23 by AG Edwards.
* Technicals look decent, looks like a good base has formed at $20.88. If we can break through $24, it can run from there.
*They have increased sales 4 yrs in a row. Growing at about 13% each yr.
*EPS has increased the L4 yrs as well. Pretty much flat from '05 to '06 though.

Not only the gambling aspect of WU is good, but think about this.. All the mexicans and other races that come to US to work for most of the yr send money home to there families weekly and/or monthly. They use WU to do this. I own a landscape company, and although i dont have any mexican workers through the H-2B program, alot of my vendors do. They send $$ back home every other week. This is huge for WU. This company will only grow larger.

You the man as usual RY...Thanks for giving us a summary. I think I will buy some shares...seems like a good stock to hang onto for 3-5 years.

Thanks Hugo for pointing them out too

As I recounted, I did great on the info regarding fed ex and this is the only other info in all that time this fella has given me. Common sense, i.e. does this look like a company that should do a lot of business is the best guide for stocks once you get to thinking about whether to invest. Like the tech stocks were touted big time and of course it made sense that hi tech was booming but the problem was there was and is so much competition. With western union you get virtually the only show in town and one whose profits are enourmous cause it doesn't cost hardly a thing to transfer money for them while getting a big service charge. I mean their charges are so high you'd think it would be illegal.
