Stocks Investment Contest for March - Everyone welcome to join

Sponsored by Bet Jamaica. You must have an account with Bet Jamaica to play. If you do not have one - click here to open a free account.

1. Contest begins on March 1st

2. Each investor will begin with $10,000 bankroll

3. You can join at anytime but if you join after March 5th - you will begin with a $5,000 bankroll. If you join after March 12th - you will begin with a $3,000 bankroll.

4. You create your own investment thread and use this thread for all your transactions for the entire contest.

5. All transactions will be done by quoting through Yahoo Finance. You need to use the price at the time of your post. So please check and make sure this is accurate. 6. You may only trade on anything listed on NYSE and NASDAQ

7. No short selling. Limit trading is allowed on a “good for day” basis. I.e. if your price target does not hit on the day you post, then the trade is cancelled and must be reposted the next day.

8. You are scoring your own investment thread.

9. Everyone will use their own thread titled something like - Jack's March Investments

PRIZES

2nd place) - $100 BETJM

NOTE: If we get participation and people stick it out we may continue next month and get better prizes.

Stash use whatever you normally use to get the live quote, but yahoo will be the "Final Line" if you will if there are any disputes. Nobody should be using the quotes that are 15-20 minutes behind since you could cheat and take advantage of breaking news.

When is the end of this contest? Close of Market March 30th? And is it graded based on your stocks at that time, or do we have to sell our shares before the last day?

I was kinda surprised that more people aren't daytrading. I think most just picked stocks they liked at the beginning of the month and hope to be up at the end of the month.

Yeah - I guess that is what I meant. I thought in the last one - there was activity every day. For those who are just playing and hoping to do well for a month - that is their perogative but does not really do much for the forum and the goals of this contest to pick it up in here.

I would like to see this section work out by itself but not sure it will

Maybe change the rules to pick new stocks everyday, etc.?

I agree Jack. Only a handful of us have made multiple trades. I think a few things can be done to make it more interesting. First, lets start with a larger bankroll. Say $25,000. THis will allow us to buy more stocks hopefully and trade in and out of them. Another thing, lets expand past just NYSE and NASDAQ, lets add AMEX and OTC. I think this will help the daytrading aspect. Maybe we can install a minimum amt of trades each week. Like, 5 trades/wk or something. I think the prizes are good. Maybe tell everyone they would increase with more participation or something.

On a side note, i do think the contest has been very helpful. About 15-20 people, whatever we have, have thrown out different stocks they like. I think its good we can share the different stocks ideas.

Okay cool

Maybe we can come up with a stock of the day or week thread for fun. Maybe that would help? Just thinking out loud
