Anybody else think this kid is worth what they are saying it's going to take to sign him? Read that he's going to hire Boras as his agent and he's going to ask for 50 million. 50 million? Honestly, baseball is a business, I understand that, but how do you recoup that much money? He's a guy that will only pitch every 5 days, can't imagine paying that.

In 70 1/3 innings pitched this spring, Strasburg has struck out 135 batters and walked only 12. His fastball has been clocked as high as 102, and it normally sits around 97, 98.

Those are some SERIOUS numbers.

His numbers are video gamish, if that's a word. He's probably the best talent we've seen. To me NCAA divison I is equivilent to Double A. He's been absolutely dominate. Still 50 million? I know that's not all bonus money, but geesh. Even Tony Gwynn his manager at San Diego State is saying he's ready. He said he's got the stuff to pitch in the majors right now, just not the experience. He's like Sidd Finch but he's real.

I guess the better question, can you afford not to sign him? If you don't and miss out on one of the best prospects ever, talk about damage control. Plus, the Nationals didn't sign their No. 1 last year, Aaron Crow, a good pitcher from Mizzou, so if they draft him and don't sign him. How can you let two quality pitchers go unsigned two years in a row?

What's the highest signing bonus for a draft pick? I think last years No. 1 got around 6 million. I'm sure they'll ask for at least 10 million. The contract itself is going to be a monster. I think I read that Boras is going to try and get the same type of deal that Dice K got. You think the Nationals trade the pick?

No. They suck. Attendance is down. They gave away last year's pick. For the franchise to survive, they have to sign him.
