Trying not to sidetrack the thread. But Since I've never lived in the US, I have a question.....I've always thought the punter/kicker on a football team is often viewed as the lowest common denominator on a football team. Guys often not good enough for the more athletic postions in the team, so they turn to punting/kicking. Fair comment or not? I guess they get the last laugh if they make it to the NFL.

Don't think it has that much to do with athleticism, most kickers/punters just aren't big enough for the other positions.

Are we kidding talking about the kickers?

Most football guys cannot kick a football 20 yards. They are not "athletic" enough to do it.

Most football players cannot kick the winning field goal from 40-yards out. The pressure and additional stress caves in on them.

The punter has it pretty easily, I'll give you that. It still isn't easy with the pressure put on for every kick you make, but you are not the one scoring points.

Kickers come from mostly a SOCCER background. Most kickers don't play other positions because they also play soccer in the same season. They also don't play other positions because if they get hurt, who will kick?

I played both in high school and continued playing soccer in college. Kicking is tough, I still can kick a 50 yard field goal, but only 20% of the time now. I like bringing my tripod tee and ball to the park and blast them while my lady shags them for exercise.

I agree with the city jobs also.
Golf Caddy is pretty sweet too.

ur kidding about the kicker post I hope. I think I would take the athleticism of a 6ft 230 pound back who can run a 4.3 forty and is able to stop on a dime than the athleticism of a 5ft11 170 guy who can kick a fg 50 yards.

Oh I would too PB.
That size and talent don't grow on trees.
I'd take 22 athletes and then worry about the kicker/punter.

I'm just saying the kicker don't have it easier, and many athletes cannot get the height needed to kick field goals without getting them blocked. It's tough. And they have tougher assignments because they need to know the whole playbook, take a bunch of hits, deal with more fame.... Football is not an easy sport to play.

It's not a cupcake job, thats all.

A casino guest host is pretty sweet. Taking care of the high-rollers, how hard is that?
