AT&T.....iPhone

this apparently is the place to put you money, if you want to invest in cingular.....

cingular is the service that will support the iphone that apple is coming out with.

what are your opinions on a buy on at&t right now? is it too late, because its already been decided which service apple will use? is that something that should have been invested in on the "rumor" that cingular will carry it?

Sales of the iPhone will have little effect on the stock price of AT&T. Cell phone companies make little margin on hardware. They make most of their money on cell phones plans. Most of the people that will get the iPhone will be current AT&T customers that will upgrade their phone. If any stock will be effected it will be Apple's.

AT&T's stock is up roughly 7-8% since the announcement, but that has a lot more to do with the blowout numbers Cingular put up last quarter than any IPhone hype. If you believe there is money to be made off the IPhone than you should be buying up Apple stock or do some research and find out who the suppliers are for the various components in the phone and look into getting shares in them.
