TAB review Dec 20

The week's big bets!

Ashes

There were some sizeable bets received by the TAB Sportsdesk on England winning the third Ashes test after Australia collapsed to be all out for 268 on the first day. However, little did those punters know that England were about to collapse in both of their innings to hand Australia what looked like an unlikely victory early on in the match. Those bets included two $10,000 bets placed on the Double Chance option of England winning or it being a drawn match and an $11,000 Head to Head wager at just $1.10 on England winning. One punter will be following the final two Ashes encounters intensely and hoping England can either win one or restrict Australia to draw’s in both after placing $10,000 on England retaining the Ashes. The bet was placed at the skinny odds of $1.07 and the punter stands to land just $700 if the wager is successful.

However, the Bookies didn’t have it all their way this week with several large bets being placed on the Aussies to take out the match at good odds early on in the encounter with one punter managing to secure $2.60 on the evening of the first day’s play. $10,000 was placed on the third day at good odds of $1.30 with Australia in a dominant position. That punter did not have to wait long for a payout with the match finishing up early on the fourth day

HRV T20 Cup

In the HRV T20 Cup the bettors have been getting it right. The Northern Districts victory over the Canterbury Wizards meant that a couple of punters made nice collects after taking out Live betting wagers; one at $10,000 and another at $5,000. $5,000 at odds of $1.40 was placed on the Wizards defeating Otago which they did so comfortably in the final over with plenty of wickets to spare.

American Sport

Once again American sport was subject to some BIG bets with College Basketball securing the biggest wagers of the week. Two $20,000 bets were placed on Oklahoma State taking out the match over Alabama and with Alabama shooting less than 40% the result was never in doubt for Oklahoma and the bettors. In NBA action, the skinny odds of $1.05 have not stopped the punters from supporting the in-form Miami Heat with several large bets placed on them in both of their games against the New York Knicks and Washington.
