TAB weekly review July 25

the week's big bets

It doesn't often happen, but our two biggest bets of the week, both lost.

The biggest of those was $37,280 at $1.25 on the St George Dragons beating the Canberra Raiders, in Monday night football. More about that game in just a minute but the other big loser was the punter who invested $36,600 at $1.16 on Waikato to beat Taranaki in the ITM Cup.

Back to the league game, and a last minute try by the Raiders saved us a massive payout and was , by far, the best league result of the round. Other bets on the Dragons in the game included : $15,000 at $1.28, $12,500 at $1.60, and $12,500 at $1.72 on St George giving away a 7 and a half point start. A winning bet from that match was the $20,000 at $1.50 on George being the first team to score 10 points. Other NRL bets to report : $20,000 at $1.48 on the Melbourne Storm to beat the Brisbane Broncos ( winner ), and $20,000 at a lay price of $1.15 on Manly accounting for Penrith ( winner ). A couple of $10,000 bets to report, there was oner at $1.87 on the Cowboys to beat the Titans ( winner ), and another at $1.80 on the Sharks to beat the Knights ( loser ).

Back now to the rugby and there were a number of healthy bets in the ITM Cup over the week. Apart from the one mentioned earlier, we took the following wagers : $36,200 at just $1.01 in live betting on North Harbour to beat Tasman ( winner ), $10,000 at $1.33 on North Harbour to beat Tasman ( again ), $10,000 at $1.50 on Tasman to beat North Harbour ( loser), two $10,000 bets, both winners, on Hawkes Bay beating Southland - the first at $1.27 and the other at $1.12, $10,000 at $1.35 on Auckland to beat Otago ( loser ), $10,000 at $1.10 on Counties to beat Manawatu ( winner ), two $10,000 wagers on Bay of Plenty beating North harbour, which they did, the first at $1.14 and the second at $1.07. In international rugby, the Wallabies thrashed the Springboks 39-20 and landed a bet of $20,000 at $1.28, while the All Blacks scored a 46 point win over Fiji and so the $10,000 bet at $1.75 on Fiji getting a 66 andhalf point start was successful.

Some other bets from various sports , firstly baseball. $11,000 at $1.82 on Chicago White sox to beat Kansas City ( loser ), $10,000 at $1.80 on Washington to beat Houston ( winner ), $10,000 at $1.82 on Boston to beat Baltimore ( winner ), and $10,000 at $1.65 on San Francisco to beat the LA Dodgers ( winner ). In the Copa American football tournament we took a wager of $10,000 at $2.05 on a halftime draw between Paraguay and Venezuela ( winner ). And finally, some racing bets to relate. $10,000 at $1.40 on the greyhound Rosemore osti ( winner ), $10,000 at $1.30 on the pacer Carter's Rocket ( winner ), and $10,000 at $1.30 on another pacer, Absolute Magic ( loser ).
