Tax Returns

Just got mine done. I'm getting $1600 back from Federal and $1000 from state Better than last year when I owed.

Any other success stories? Anybody end up owing?

Never understood why people get excited about a big refund. I get that it is better than owing a large amount but essentially letting the government use the money interest free.

Find a good tax guy (or do it yourself) and plan out the year better so you get the money when you earn the money.

The easiest thing to do is plan in October and then if you have already paid enough for the year go exempt the remainder of the year. This increases your take home pay during the holiday season.

agree. obviously is nice to get a refund, but it your money, and they used it for a year interest free. Yes, i know you wouldnt make a lot of interest; but nobody lets you borrow interest free so why should you?

and yes, i usually go exempt november and december. get some extra cash and i still get a refund every year.

yeah i get that but realistically i wouldn't have saved the extra money. it's comes out to an extra $200/month. trust me, i would have spent that. we always live to our means.
