teaser question

As a relatively new sports bettor, I have noticed that not a lot of the seasoned cappers in mall ever bet teasers. Is there a reason for this? I'm wondering why the more experienced gamblers never play teasers. Are teasers for suckers, and if so, why?

thanks

Your gonna get varied responses to this.. im just going to simply say you can make money playing teasers, I have seen it before and i am proving it this year as well.

I usually make 5-10 bets on football a week and usually one is a teaser. It's alot safer than a parlay I have found. Like this week I like NE and Detroit at home, but they are both laying 7 points and I think one of these games could go under 7 points. Instead of bet them both and maybe split, make one bet for even money and only lay -1 on both sides. You gotta be pretty confident in your games though. Also I have found it is better to do a 2 or 3 team max teaser, (Usually 2) cuz just like a parlay, the more games you play the better the chance that one team is gonna lay an egg and lose no matter how many points you get by doing the teaser.

teasers are good for games that you like, but also feel could be very close to the spread. usually play more teasers in college than pro

I play both parlays and teasers.

I play teasers mainly on games that are too close to call, so I want to have a few extra points on my side. Its like buying insurance if you will.

My favorite teaser play is a 6 or 7 pt 6 pack that pays 7-1.

The more pts you tease, the lower the payout. Hence, to make any money, you need to risk big bucks.

Ithink that 2 team 6 pt.NFL teasors can be beat, which is why most Vegas books either make you lay 12/10 or will not take them at all.

Teasers are used primarily to back up parlay wagers. The reason why most seasoned pros do not play them is because teasers give the book a huge percentage advantage. They do not pay off close to their legitimate odds. Again, this is another ploy for the books to grind out more vig, as are parlay wagers and "prop" wagers. You have to remember that you can not base your opinion of how good a wager this is on one person's success or failure with them. You have to look at the big picture, and that's what the books do. If it were not profitable for the book, they would not offer it.

I like teasers; I know they have been referred to as sucker bets, but I think they are pretty easy to hit. Good Luck!! (btw; I am 3-0 +12.17 Units on teasers so far in football this year)

To each their own.

When a question is posed to solicit opinions from BOTh sides, there is going to be "PROS" and "CONS"

It is up to the individual to decide whether the "PROS" outweigh the "CONS" or vice versa.
