Test(s) of Personal Morality

1. If your house was on fire, and you had a chance to either save your wife or your child, which one do you save?

2. There are two planes heading to your destination, both scheduled to arrive at a similar hour. The main pilot of one plane is a serial rapist and a child molester, with an immaculate flying record, 100% success rate, one of the best pilots in history. The pilot of the other plane is a model citizen, devout and pious God-fearing Christian, Community leader, but has wrecked or failed to land safely 65% of the time. Which plane do you choose to board?

1--child. Can't imagine any parent saying otherwise.

2--unless the molester is going to be arrested during the flight, why would anyone choose to risk their own life with a moral person who is a lousy pilot. Once you get me on the ground however is another story.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

im taking the plane that lands 100% of the time. ill take the hit on guilt to make it to where i am going safely

solid constitution of posters we have here

1. child

2. excellent pilot / serial rapist

Question one is pretty hard, I believe for you churchgoers the stipulation would induce the thought of saving the wife, because you can have another child

But for me, I can't imagine hearing or seeing my child in trouble and not trying to save his/her life

I dont think either are really questions of Morality are they? Unless you consider giving money to the pederast flying the plane a moral quandry.....

They are very difficult questions indeed, but not really moral dilemma's,. like: If you met Adolph Hitler when he was a young man in Vienna, and you had an opportunity to murder him, knowing what he was going to do in the future, but knowing that he had done nothing to warrant his death to that point, would you commit murder?

Very interesting thread nonetheless.......

1)Wife - Making more children is easy. Note: I don't have children nor do I ever plan to have any.

2) The molester, couldn't imagine anyone choosing the lousy pilot. Anyone who would choose otherwise is too stupid to live and likely to die in a fiery accident due to their own ignorance anyways.

question 1 is tough for us because we are not married and dont have kids. however, then i thought about it. the wife could divorce you the next day, but the kid is your blood into eternity.

question 2 is definitely the 100% success rate rapist. all he's doing is flying the plane. The question would be better if it was two parts.... You first just ask would you fly the plane with a rapist or with a devout christian. after most say the christian, then you say 'what if i told you these percentages...' Then u get the negative morality feedback.

question 2 has much more underlying depth behind the question

basically apropos to any entertainer with questionable character, any CEO of a major company that provides a service

for a pilot, just land the plane, for an entertainer, just entertain me, for a company, just give me a good product, could care less what you do at home
