Yes I know my mind changes like the wind.

I've done some reading, assessing and have made some decisions once again for the better of the site as a whole. This decision is for the better of CappersMall as a whole, not one person or any group of people.

What is CappersMall supposed to be about?

It's supposed to be a sports handicapping forum that brings people with different personalities in to a setting where they can discuss sports, betting and even some off-topic conversation. It's a place where bettors can get away from real life tensions. It is "not" a right for anyone to post here. While I welcome all contributors, I won't continue to do this at all costs. CappersMall is NOT a place for people who want to spew hate, threats and other garbage that in my opinion doesn't have any place in life, not to mention this forum. Our goal is not to try and become one of the big forums but rather a productive forum where people can come here, get away and do the things they like to do.

I am well aware of the current situation that got us to this point but in reality it's been brewing for a while. So before you starting blaming someone for this decision, just realize that if you come here for the basement and that's where you find joy, then maybe this forum is not the right place for you.

Also for the record, I will deal with that situation separately in the very near future.

People contribute to this site in many different ways and that's what makes it work and while traffic is good and some drama once in a while makes it fun - it's not worth the price. This isn't meant to piss anyone off and I am well aware that some people are going to say we are all adults and people don't have to visit that section, etc but at the end of the day there is no middle ground and it doesn't work. People refuse to leave it in the basement and it just can't stop spilling in to the main forums.

Respect

This is the biggest thing that has changed about CappersMall. I am not talking about busting balls, friendly ribbing, and that kind of stuff.

If we have to ban good members to make a point than that's what will happen.

The basement is closed. I am still contemplating Fan Trash talk as well. In the mean time, fan trash talk is there to trash talk teams, not their fans and not personal.

Sometimes in a good debate can get heated and people say things they might not normally say and there is a fine line between that and what I am talking about here.

There is a difference between heated words that come out of a fan type thread and someone's pick thread and I understand that and we will try and distinguish between the two. However if you can't handle debating the "topic" rather than someone personally than your time here will be short.

While we are all adults here (yes that could be questioned at times), it's how I choose to run this site. Good or bad, I will live with the decision.

Boring

Some will say but this site will be boring. I understand your way of thinking and that's not my goal but the daily hatred and disrespect is stopping now here and now. Busting balls, friendly ribbing and general male behavior doesn't have to stop if you can manage to not cross that line of disrespecting someone personally. If you don't like someone, ignore them - either by ignore feature in your userCP or by simply not opening the thread or reading the post.

Everything thing the moderators do moving forward will be following my direction of this thread and lead. So before you blame them, please understand that.


Infractions

These have always been here but they are being simplified and will be used here more often.

1. Disrespecting another member
2. Trolling or Continuous Baiting
3. Kicking when down
4. Inapropriate Behavior (or other)

This will be automated and will result if you get so many infractions.

1st infraction - warning
2nd infraction - 7 day ban
3rd infraction - 30 day ban
4th infraction - 1 year ban

If you really cross a line, it could be permanent ban.

These infractions will result in an immediate ban

1. Racial Hate, Death Threats - will automatically get you a 30 day ban and a further review by us which can result in to permanent ban.

These infractions could result in immediate temp or perm ban

1. Posting Contact Info in the forums.
2. Abuse of the Rewards system in anyway
3. Posting False or deceiving records (this is case by case). YOu don't have to keep a record. IF you do, keep it right.


Obvious spam will still be dealt with and doesn't really concern most if not all of you.

Our moderators and myself are going to try to keep things moving as they have here but keeping this in mind. We will try and be patient, calming & not to take sides. We will do things in a quiet and respectful manner and ultimately you shouldn't even notice we are there if not needed.

Sometimes a little argument can be worked out by itself. It's sometimes better to see if it works itself out before we get involved.

I think if everyone can just respect or ignore everyone, then nothing changes for you.

We'll give this a day or so to sink in but we need to get back to what made cappersmall successful which many of you have helped along the way!

good decision, Jack. Big difference from when I was here before and when I came back. Glad to see it moving in the right direction again.

jack while i partook in some of the going ons in the basement...it did kinda get outta control. i know you are looked up to by some members so coming from you might register it in their head better then another member. it takes 2 to tango, whether you were the first to be attacked on doesnt matter sometimes. the way you react and respond just makes you as guilty as the other person. the basement is/was entertaining at times but it did get a little crazy torwards the end.

Exactly right. Jack talks about it being boring without the basement well the basement itself was starting to be boring and had probably outlived it's usefulness. Time to get back to why we are all here. Moving forward.
