I don't like tying up my money for extended lengths of time but I do bet some o/u total wins in NFL.

Some of my best results have come in futures.
I do them frequently, personally I think they are the best way to bet, less of a gamble but only If u choose the right one's.

The best one's IMO are where u can Isolate something u like in a market with two possible outcomes. Or in a market where u can hedge down the track.
You have to always be aware of the Bookmakers % hold.

Some examples to Illustrate my point :

Over / under season wins are a solid choice : Two possible outcomes. Standard Bookmaker % hold eg usually -110 (or better) a piece.

Winner of the World Series : So many outcomes and so much that can go wrong. Generally not a solid choice. High Bookmaker % hold too.

Golf tournament 72 hole player vs player : Similar to the over / under example above. Solid choice.

Winner of a golf tournament : Total mugs game here 120+ possible outcomes in a fickle sport. Terrible bookmakers % margins one of the worst of any market.

These are just a few examples without getting into great detail.
