These things bug me...

Please feel free to add any of your own to this list

When you are at a sporting event or out at a restaurant and someone says that they have to go to the bathroom. There are no bathtubs/showers there so you are not going to the bathroom you are going to the washroom.

The word often should be pronounced ofen, the t is silent. Joe Morgan drives me nuts with this one when he works baseball games.

There is no school today. Last time I checked they arent tearing down the school for one day and then rebuilding it. It should be there are no classes today.

Its not I could care less, its I couldnt care less.

When its the first time an event is taking place its not the first annual event, its the inaugural event.

Misuse of the word there/their. Talking about people then its their, talking about where something is then its there.

When people who are clearly a little on the heavy side say they are starving. Believe me you arent starving, maybe a little hungry but you sure arent starving.

don't agree

phone number is one thing in itself, so it would be number

when you are talking about 105, you don't say the numbers 105, just number 105

One that has always bugged me and it happens on this forum quite a bit is the incorrect use of the word "lose"

I had a "loosing" night last night, No, you had a "losing" night

often
One entry found for often.
Main Entry: of·ten
Pronunciation: 'o-f&n, ÷'of-t&n
Function: adverb
Etymology: Middle English, alteration of oft

Looks like it could be either... I do share your dislike for Morgan though...

Why shouldn't it be a restroom?

restroom
One entry found for restroom.
Main Entry: rest·room
Pronunciation: 'rest-"rüm, -"rum
Function: noun
: a room or suite of rooms providing toilets and lavatories - this is merely a regional thing. It all started out being one in the same - bathroom, restroom, washroom.

Couldn't Care less - it's simply being lazy and not enunciating. Happens all the time in this world with many different words and cultures. I like some - don't like others.

1st Annual - it is suggesting that there are more to come... 2nd 3rd 4th... and so on
