Lightbulb They Made Me a Criminal

They Made Me a Criminal
By Dr. Jack, CappersMall.com

I am lucky enough to live near the beach in South Florida. There are also many other activities in Florida for us adults. The problem is us gamblers are bad, bad people. Haven't you seen the gambling news lately?

I woke up Saturday morning and felt really lucky. I drove to the local grocery store and purchased $100 worth of scratch off lottery tickets. I know gambling is bad but the government supports the lotto system. It seems they pick and choose what they like and do not like, what is legal and what is illegal. I just can't help myself. I won a few free tickets and my big hit was $5. I was not done yet. I decided to purchase $50 in cash 3 tickets; you know the daily pick 3 lottery game. I also purchased $100 in the daily pick 4, the fantasy 5 and the ultimate game of chance, the Florida lottery. The funny thing is I left the grocery store and the police did not arrest the lotto clerk, no handcuffs and no "You have the right to remain silent". I suppose when they say they are after the gambling operators they are not talking about these guys.

I decided to relax a bit before I drove less than 5 minutes to the local reservation casino and threw down a couple of hundred in slots and played a little poker before I made my next plans for the day. Another amazing thing is still no police, no handcuffs and no arrests of any casino operator here. We are really feeling lucky.

It was about 11:30 and decided I was really in a gambling mood and made my way to the local Jai-Lai. For those who don't know you bet it similar to horses and dog track. I spent a few hours and a few hundred on those can't miss trifectas I like to play. Luckily while I was there I was also able to bet on all the pari mutuals and other tracks all from Jai Lai. I was even able to play some more live poker. Life is good. There was even police there. Luckily the gambling ticket takers escaped with no handcuffs and no criminal charges. The gambling gods must be looking over all of us.

My day was hardly over. I figured it was still day light and I had only spent like $500 or $600 gambling and I had more in me. I stopped at the daily dog track and played a few exactas and another trifecta or two. I was not done because I stopped at the horse track and threw down another $200 on a horse named "American Dream", played another game of poker and oh yeah bought some more lotto tickets. I saw more police but for some reason they did not handcuff or charge anyone with a crime.

I needed to hurry because I had to get to the Port before dark where my "cruise to nowhere" was ready to go. Here I was able to play blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, slots and if you are lucky some of the cruise boats even have a sportsbook.

In case I did not mention this, I used my Visa Debit card at the grocery store to buy them lotto tickets. At the track and Jai-Lai, I used my MasterCard. No problems at all. In fact, the credit card companies were even nice enough to give me an extension and a cash advance. The land of the free and I am absolutely loving it.

It was a long day filled with lots of many different ways of gambling. I drove home and decided to turn on my computer. I signed on to my favorite Poker Site and decided to play a game of $5 No Limit Hold'em. I needed to send more money in my account and tried my debit card, my credit card and my money transfer processors. I kept getting declined with funny messages. They kept saying something like this. "Because you are a US citizen, you are unable to use a credit card for any illegal, gambling related activities and do not try that debit card either." Gambling is a sin. It's bad for family values. I know this because the government told me so. They said look, we have a problem with you playing $5 at the Poker table and there is no way we can allow you to play an NFL teaser tomorrow, so don't try that either.

I thought I was having a dream. You know one of those crazy nightmares where you are trapped in some foreign country. Gambling is bad, real bad. I kept hearing this. Well except if it is an approved gambling activity. See I can play bingo, slots, poker, blackjack, horse racing, lotto games and many other things. I can even be drunk as a skunk doing it. But god forbid in the privacy of my own home may I be able to go to one of those bad www sites that offer online gambling. See I can go online to learn or purchase information on how to make a bomb, or check out all the pornography but lucky for us they will protect us from ourselves if we try to gamble online.

Where am I? I must be in some communist country right? How did I get here? How do I get back? I love America but I am confused. This just does not seem like the grand old' USA.

As bettors, our biggest liability from the government is losing convenient and relatively trusted online gaming sites to play at. So while they pick and choose which forms of gambling are illegal to be an operator of they continue to use a double standard when it comes to gambling. Many sports or poker players are good business people who make a nice living, take care of their family and like to play a little poker or make an NFL wager as a hobby.

What is the difference between playing that cash 3 lotto tickets and betting on a 3 team football parlay? What is the difference between betting a 3-4-7 trifecta box and betting a 3 team football teaser? Maybe it's me maybe I am naïve, confused and just not aware that betting on football games is the downfall of family values. Maybe it is okay if people are throwing their last few dollars of their paycheck that they live week-to-week on the weekly lottery that has odds of more than a million to one to win?

Gambling is a normal part of a person's life style, and I am tiring of the government hypocritically interfering with the right of the individual to exercise that choice.

They have made me a criminal - what do I do now?

Couldn't have said it better. Hope you don't mind I just pasted and emailed this to a couple of congressmen that I know personally and that I know spend time at the track when they are home.

Everyone needs to send something like this to their congressmen and senators just to let them know the irony of their actions.

Wow Jack, what a friggin' degenerate gambler you are! Jai-Lai?

Bet with your head, not over it.

If you or anyone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800-GAMBLER or visit www.gamblersanonymous.org.

LMAO.....isn't those lottery $$$ suppose to help fund Fla. education? Coming from an education background...$$$ must be going to the school board...because it certainly isn't going toward books.
If no online poker...I will be subjected to playing live at the track...tournaments with a blind structure so fast its like playing the lottery ticket.
Good post Jack.....

Thumbs down It's The Same Here In The Province Of Quebec

Hi, I don't know if bodog is still like that but a year ago I tried to open an account there and was refused because I was from quebec. Another one is wagerline.com I find this place a reilly good place to enter quiz and if you have 21 sports predictions in a row they pay you $100,000.00 but you are not allowed to win if you live in Quebec anyother province of Canada you are allowed.

Before this morning Jan 22nd I could deposit at VIP.COM money from my neteller account and make a withdrawal from VIP and they would send it in my neteller account but now I can make deposit but not a withdrawal they do not use Neteller anymore weither you are from US or Canada, they will send the money in my bank account but naturally they will charge me $10.00 to do so where when it was true Neteller there was no charge. There you are I am frustrated you cannot imagine how.
