*Tiger or Jordan*

50 yrs. from now... who will be regarded as more dominant in their respective sport???

Granted it's tough to compare individual v. team dynamics, plus MJ has completed his career while Tiger is in his prime....

I've gotta say, as much as I respect Tiger's talent, IMO the gap between MJ and no. 2 (whoever the f that is) is/will be wider than the gap between Tiger and Jack.

Whoyawith?? Whatchagot??

Disagree 100% with the "revoultionizing" aspect

Tiger has taken golf to a new level with children starting to take up the game at a very young age. He has single handidly changed the sport forever.

Either way both are the best at what they did and it's impossible to compare the two IMO.

Jordan is the greatest athlete of all time, any sport in my opinion. Tiger has done wonders for the miniature golf courses though

Maybe if you didn't slice the ball 200 yards right every shot you might appreciate the game a little more Doc.

lol - I will be the first to admit, I have never once played regular golf. Tried miniature golf a few times but got sick of having to get the ball out of the pond. Just to boring for me John. I do enjoy riding in golf carts though and watching caddyshack

Yep he taught everyone to palm the ball and travel without having the refs call it. Wish they still made them dribble the ball. The game got alot easier when you get to pick the ball up look for a hole and run to the basket.

Golf is in almost every country...and basketball is close now thanks to the olympics.......

I say Tiger because Jack and Arnie Army were and are known world wide......

I would say that most in the world dont know the history of Wilt or Kareem

The main difference I see is that Tiger's greatness is purely quantifiable while MJ's is not.

MJ has 6 championships and a ton of MVPs and other awards. However, if you saw him play you know that his greatness did not liein his accomplishments -- his greatness was how he could harness his desire to win and connect it so well with his physical gifts and turn that into some of the most exciting basketball ever witnessed. You can't see his greatness just by looking at his numbers.

Tiger is the opposite -- everything about his greatness is harnessed in numbers -- # of wins, # of majors, % of time he wins while leading after 36 and 54 holes. # times he wins at one particular course, # of wins in a row, etc.

Tiger is quantifiably the greatest sportsmen of our time, imo (obviously just mo). Those of us who watched MJ's career never thought the day would come that a Tiger would surpass the accomplishments of MJ.

But I think most people who like both sports can see how in the future someone with MJ's talent could come forward and dominate, again. I'm not so sure I see another Jack/Tiger coming any time soon...

Easily Jordan. Let me tell you a story Stacey King told me this weekend. After the bulls lost to the pistons in 89, jerry karuse walked into the locker room kicking things and telling his players that he was sick and tired of losing to the damn pistons....

Jordan stood up and said, "Jerry get the **** OUT OF HERE!" Then turned and called out every single player on the bulls that year and what they needed to improve on. He turned around looked over his shoulder and said, "we will never lose to these guys again".......Story made me get goosebumps and the rest is history.

Jordan was not only the best but he made everyone around him even better...tiger is a one man show...

Tiger faces no one but himself. Jordan went against the best athletes in the world in what most would call the golden age of basketball, most times getting double and even triple teamed.

Every single "next big thing" in basketball under 6'10" will be regarded as "the next Jordan", and will continue to be so until long after Jordan is gone.

First off, this is not a knock on Tiger.

Golf - a sport that needs to be practiced and repeated until no end - continually tweaking your game. I think the money has made these (other) players lazy. I give you DL III (Davis Love III for you non-golfers). He has great talent, but I detect laziness. You can practive lackidazically (sp?) and get nothing out of it - which I believe alot of guys do...

Basketball - I know you have been licking your chops about laziness/basketball, but we are talking about greatness and in that I'm talking about athleticism. These guys are forced to practice, yes, but even lackidazically (sp?) I think it improves them.

I say Jordan
