Tiger Woods makes Presidents Cup team

Quite a unique situation, don't remember before a player so badly out of form selected in the major team event.

Woods makes Presidents Cup - The Boston Globe

Would you have selected him?

Might as well select Jack Nicklaus also, he is one of the greatest of all time. Apparently playing well (or at all) leading up to the event isn't a requirement.

A couple of other factors, other than we have mentioned. 1) Its not like he has a good record in team events 2) Its hard to see how his presence will boost team morale. It might even have the opposite effect, some of his peers now despise him to varying degrees.

That said, purely from a betting sense, baring any setbacks he will still be in the top few favoured Americans in the Bookmakers oddssetting.

I have no problem with it. When you look at the players outside the top 10 I dont really see anyone that will be screwed by Woods being selected. Woods has played almost tournaments the past 2 years yet is still 28th. I know he has played poorly, but lets look at the other options for captains picks.

Fowler - he should be the 2nd pick
Furyk - he has been worse than Woods this year. He has points only because of how he finished last year.
Bradley - he would be the only 1 being screwed since he won twice this year including a major. He is a rookie though and I cannot see a captain being too fond of a rookie on the team.

No one else deserving in my opinion.

I'm glad it helps the International team win, Ron Mexico could beat him.

Bunch of garbage and utter BS. One week he says he has to watch him play more golf and then the next he is on the team. Wonder why Woods has not said anything to the press?

Ratings have been mentioned.....As with 99% of everything else it is about money, money, and more money.

Do they share the same agent(s)?

my thoughts

is he good enough to help us ? Probably

But , since he has a spot , someone else does not and that someone else is much much more deserving.

heck even the 90th raanked player could have a good weekend and help us.

I am afraid that he is In partly do to TV ratings
