Ex-Giant Tiki Barber keeps 'Today' show job after leaving wife for 23-year-old former NBC intern


Tiki Barber kept his job on the 'Today' show Tuesday, a day after he and wife Ginny officially filed for divorce.

Tiki Barber fumbled his good guy rep when he left his pregnant wife for a blonde hottie, but he's still got his big bucks job on the "Today" show.

For now.

"Tiki is a contributor to the 'Today' show," an NBC News spokeswoman told The Daily News on Tuesday, refuting reports that Barber has been sacked by 30 Rock.

That lukewarm confirmation came a day after Barber's bedridden wife, Ginny, filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court, citing "adultery."

The telegenic ex-Giants running back remains a high-priced correspondent for the morning show, but it's been months since he's appeared in a "Today" segment.

Barber, 35, also recently lost his gig on NBC's weekly Sunday night football telecast. The network opted not to renew Barber's contract after last season.

Barber's ouster from that show appeared to coincide with reports that he'd shacked up with 23-year-old former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson.

While Barber has been seen squiring Johnson around town and even took her to the Vancouver Olympics, his soon-to-be ex-wife is pregnant with twins - and practically trapped in the marital bed.

"There have not been any complications, but her doctor said it's safer for her to stay in her home and stay in her bed," said a source close to the matter. "She's a small woman and she's very pregnant. Aside from visits to her doctor, she's confined to her apartment."

Ginny Barber, whose 11-year marriage to Tiki has produced two other young children, is due to deliver the twins next month.

In addition to breaking his wife's heart, Barber has reportedly been low-balling her during negotiations over financial support.

"All she wants to do is make sure her kids are taken care of," the source said. "Suffice it to say she wouldn't have had to file for divorce if the negotiations had produced an agreement."

The Barbers met at the University of Virginia, where Barber starred before the Giants made him a second-round draft choice in 1997.

During his Giants heydey, Barber often touted his dedication to family, especially because his own dad abandoned him and his twin, Ronde, when they were 4.

Then came reports that Barber had run off with Johnson, who told her parents she was baby-sitting the running back's kids - not breaking up his marriage.

Karma would say that for the divorce proceedings the judge should be a pregnant female, preferably with twins.

this actually is NOT a good thing for Tiki. He will now have to pay child support (for 4 kids including the unborn twins) based on his Today Show income. Had he been canned, he would not have had to pay as much.

Remember in the 90s, Bret Saberhagen was making a ton of money. His wife filed for divorce and was publicly talking about taking him for all he had.

Saberhagen said something like, "I'll show her. I'll quit baseball and get a job at a gas station before she gets anything from my next contract."
