Is it time for NFL to expand playoffs?

I would like to see them add one team from each conference so only one team gets a bye. It would make it even better the first weekend.

That means we would have a triple header on the first saturday and Sunday. This year, the bears would have played the giants and San Diego would have played at Pittsburgh.

Nothing you can do about a team with a losing record make the playoffs as long as you have divisions. You could make not give them a home playoff game. I am sure some would like the best records to host the playoff games in the first round.

What are your thoughts?

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PICKING GOLF WINNERS
1. CLOSER with CHARACTER. Certain guys see the finish line and cross it and others are destined for second place.
2. RELAXED CONFIDENCE, FOCUS and a HUNGER to win. It's a mental game and their mind has to be in the right frame with a determination and focus. As Harry Vardon said: "To play well you must feel tranquil and at peace. I have never been troubled by nerves in golf because I felt I had nothing to lose and everything to gain."
3. COURSE. Does the course layout favor the strengths of the golfer and does it expose their weaknesses. Previous form can change immediately for those who feel comfortable on a course and its greens.

I can't see the NFL taking away the bye week for 1&2 in that scenario although it makes sense.

The NFL is hardest sport to make playoffs, I kind of like it

agree. like that a small percentage of the teams make the playoffs. if you expanded playoffs then they would eventually expand the number of teams. Already enough average qb's starting in the NFL.

I think baseball is the hardest sport to make the playoffs.

I can't see it either but to give the top seeds home field AND a bye is a little much.

Give 'em home field but make 'em play.

Wouldn't mind it....I would like to see a rule in place that a division winner has to have a record above .500 in order to qualify for a home playoff game. If they are sub .500 like Seattle then they would have to go on the road if their WC opponent has a superior record.

Other than that, I like it how it is but would be open to seeing slight changes in the future.

I like that idea NightCap. the NFC West is horrible and they should be divided up and put into the other divisions. Then one team from each league forms a new divsion. Never again should this group of teams be allowed to play as a division. And then to give them a home game ? lmao. JOKE!!!
And the reason why the league gives 1 bye week for each division winner is because its a way of making them all compete to the very end. League did a lot better job making the final week count by having division games for the last games of the season. JMO

I agree here.... I think that sports that have meaningless seasons like nhl where 80% of teams make the playoffs are quite uninteresting until playoff time. Just an opinion but I think even baseball (with more games) is more intriguing to watch because of the tightness in who makes playoffs. So its not about the number of games the nhl has, it is the amount of teams that make the playoffs that erks me.

Then again in ncaab 64 teams play for one champion and that does get quite entertaining
