Talking Top 5 Quarterbacks of all-time

You can do hundreds of this kind of debate and never get a consensus #1. Some will argue Favre should be in top 5, some say he shouldn't be top 20. Some say it's the system with Brady. Does championships matter? How many championships would Marino have won if he was a Niner? It's hard to just the guys before my time so my personal opinion is with QB's I have actually seen play.

Anyway - I will start with my top 5. Let the debate begin.

1. Peyton Manning - In my lifetime I have seen some pretty decent quarterbacks and Manning can throw it like no other except maybe Marino but I'll give the nod to Peyton for getting the ring. I think the ring can be important but not everything.

2. Joe Montana - Joe did everything and looked so smooth. Hard to argue against him even as the best ever.

3. Dan Marino - I know some will disrespect Marino, call him overrated but he was the best pure passer ever and unfortunately the no championships do taint his legacy a bit but anyone who knows football can't argue that he can throw it better than anyone.

4. John Elway - The championships raised Elway to the top of most lists but for a long time, he was in the same boat as Dan with the one big difference, they found T Davis & a true running game! Truth be told, I loved watching Elway play, he did it all and played the way you should play.

5. This was the hardest one. A top 5 list is harder than a top 10. lol. I'll go with Tom Brady (edging Favre), the guy is just amazing and if I had to pick one QB to lead my team it would probably be Tom

Unitas is on every list but I just went top 5 of my era

Let's hear your opinions

I know you are the big kahuna Dr. Jack, but to not have Favre in the top 5 is laughable. The man has every record in the book, and is the MVP frontrunner this year at 40 years old...

Favre number one on list of top 5 football players of all time, QB's it's not even close

Ever heard of Drew Brees. Farve is no where near Bress for the MVP this season.

DR. Jack, I would take Tom Brady over Farve any day of the week.

1. Tom Brady...HANDS DOWN!!! From late round pick riding the pine behind Deadslow to taking that team on his back and becoming the most clutch QB in the game. Even more amazing than his unexpected rise to greatness is that he did it without any real weapons at his disposal (unlike Manning). An old Troy Brown, David Patten, Bethel Johnson....seriously, his WR's were a slight upgrade from what McNabb had to work with (Trash, Stinkston) and just like McNabb when he finally got 1 true threat.....he smashed records. THE GREATEST!!!

2. Peyton Manning...yes has had an arsenal of weapons at his disposal his entire career but WR's dont make you throw pinpoint accurate lasers, or make you the smartest QB to ever play the game. Besides immobility and his tendency to choke in big games, he's flawless.

3. Johnny Unitas.....Do I really need to say anything?

4. Dan Marino, if you could pick any player in the history of the league who never got a ring but deserved one, Dan Marino is that guy. Peyton Manning is actually Dan's spawn, if he was fathered by Archie, Peyton would have 1 Pro Bowl year in which he threw the same amount of TD's and INT's like Archie.

5. Joe Montana....Didnt have a big time arm but had a HUGE HEART AND DEDICATION!! Joe made it look easy!
