truth test

I recentelly caught myself in a nasty chase, where i lost about half of my bankroll, now i think ill walk away from gambling for good. Been doing this for about 10 years in which i know i lost a lot more than I won. Just wanted to take poll, see whats the percentage of people that actually made profit in their sports investing lives, please be as honest as u can be.

I justify my losses by "paying for the excitement"....
Its really not wins and losses to me, its the action. Sure its fun to win, but to me losing is more fun than not playing.

I have consistently won over the past five years. Before that, well let's just say it was an expensive education.

Judge so you've been on both sides of this thing, let me ask you what do you think ure doing different now than back then, playing with more discipline? different money managment? did the luck change or are you just better at it???

Sorry to hear about your situation Tomek, I hope things work out for you.

Say.....can you add an extra category to your poll with the description "Won but lost on grading error"??

I'm down in total over the last 23 years I would say about 80 to 90 thousand.

I don't think the money matters to me anymore. I think it's just the thrills I enjoy now.

It's all discretionary income. I know me limits.

If it hurts to lose..you are playing too high....Every gambler has been where you are....you are concentrating too much on results....Play less.... make it fun for youself again....and you will be surprised....with the results
Gambling is about streaks good or bad...cut losses when its bad.....exploit when its good . Stick to the plays that are high % for you...and attack the next ten years with a plan...I wish you the best ..........Good luck

Unfortunately the one year I won alot was still in my early betting career. Lets just say I hit a slump and chased and lost it all back and then some. Still makes me sick thinking of how much I couldve been up. Now I'm doing better playing way less games and not overdoing my betting limits. Also when I hit a slump I go down to 1 game until I get hot again. The hard part is learning discipline and money management.

Youre 100 % correct, gambling is all about streak and taking advantage of them, but in my case the hot streaks dont usually last as long as the cold ones, during which i find myself chasing a lot of times, basicly forcing bets to get my losses back, I know its a gambler's suicide but seems I could never learn to play with discipline. In a way I know I should walk away but i know its difficult, tried to quit many times before but always got back into it, and I dont think it was ever about the thrill to me, the only reason i played was for the money . Last night i was kind of tempted to play again but i guess was to scared to bet ,and if I did i was gonna go large again on the Saints, just my luck i guess

I've only been serious about this stuff for a few years now and have been up every year, I spent the last couple of years of college learning how to do this and didn't start doing a lot of it until I could really afford to do it right. Since then I have really just kept rolling with it and not had to put anymore of my money in. God willing it will keep that way.

I think it was important that I played small and learned through college, I didn't have anything to lose but beer money, so if I did get in over my head it wouldn't have hurt that much, some people try sports gambling and poker, etc out after they start earning a good living, but don't know what they are doing and end up losing everything.
