You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.” ---Jim Valvano

I like the picture of the galaxy that is so big that it technically should not exist according to current physics theories. That's awesome. We are so insignificant it's funny.

why are we insignificant because of the magnitude of the universe

its only as big as our own consciousness allows

what makes you think that humans would be able to detect anything and everything?

being insignificant too me is a great thing.... growing up I used to trip out how big the world was and how many people there are etc. Ive seen more cargo containers come in and out of LA in 2004-05 to know there are so many people it is insane.

I felt "insignificant" here on earth as a single person person in the world. I will admit I was not the best astronomy student but learning visually how small earth really is compared to all the other entities in that image makes me feel even better about life and all of existance. Either our reality is truley insignificant and I am in awe of the coinsadence or we are insignifant as a planet to the universe just as a single person is insignificant to the the world.

I found out a month ago the Universe had infact a begging and will have an end in help to something called dark energy which expands, I am still hi off that knowlege, compliments to discovery channel.

The possibilities are endless, thats the best part.

I like your positivist juxtaposition. However, our collective arrogance should indeed be humbled by the mere enormity of the universe.

(no thesaurus or dictionary nearby, so not sure if I used those words correctly to convey my thoughts -- and I've just polished off a 5th of Stoli)...

Actually, I'm not entirely sure of what I'm trying to say. Just appears like we are about as significant to the universe as a grain of sand is to the Sahara. Actually, unfathomably less-so.

I suppose significance is defined entirely on one's perspective, so perhaps it is not the correct word to use here.
