Seven buildings along the west side of Northrop Mall on the University of Minnesota campus were evacuated Wednesday afternoon because of a bomb threat, according to campus police.

A news release from the university said that early Wednesday afternoon a professor in Smith Hall found a note that included a bomb threat against several campus buildings.

The buildings that were evacuated were Smith Hall, Johnston Hall, Walter Hall, Kolthoff Hall, Morrill Hall, Frazier Hall and the Science Classroom Building.

All classes and meetings in those buildings were canceled for the day.

The threat came only days after a 23-year-old student shot 32 people to death and committed suicide Monday at Virginia Tech.

On Tuesday, campus threats forced lock-downs and evacuations at universities, high schools and middle schools in at least 10 states. Several threats mentioned the Virginia Tech massacre.

Its only a matter of time before some other friggen nutbar decides its his time to break the new record that is being reported everytime you hear this story on it being the largest mass killing in United States history unfortunately.

24 hours new channels are making this a very attractive thing to do for the absoloute wackos who live amongst us. How many other nutbars are now thinking this is a way for the world to finally notice them?

Jack I truly hope you are right but just don't think it will stop there, there are so many disillusioned people with access to guns and knowing this is a way for the world to finally notice them. I honestly would not be surprised at all to see something happen Friday with it being the anniversary of Columbine and this being fresh from this tragedy.
