I'm not Romo but this really isn't a big deal. The US definitely needs to reduce spending and debt; however, all of these countries owning US backed Treasuries happily invest in them because its a safe return low risk investment. Other countries financial systems aren't as large or complicated as the US, but selling Treasuries is part of the game. In all likelihood the US will never default on the Treasuries which still make it a safe play to sock away money and get a modest return. Hell I own several thousand dollars in US Savings bonds. They have a 1.5% annual return, which isn't great, but it's the portion of my portfolio where I want minimum risk. When the market tanked in 07-09, I was still getting my 1.5% from the US government.

I agree with alot of what you're saying justdonating. But I think you're looking at this a bit too much as an investor and not as a citizen. I would totally agree with you that US T-bills are still a very safe investment. But at what point do you start to worry about the actual value of a dollar due to the debt? Personally, I think with the way we're going the dollar is a ticking time bomb. I mean you can't just print up money (something $700 billion last year or so) and not have it adversely affect the valueof a currency.

Quik,

I don't disagree with anything you said, which I was starting my post with the country need to reduce spending and debt. I'm not a fan of the bailouts because of the mortgage crisis, but I understand why the bailouts were needed. IMO we need to get back to true capitalism where some businesses will fail. For every dollar someone loses, someone else makes one. More than 40% doesn't pay federal taxes, which also doesn't help matters. Again, I don't disagree with you, I was offering commentary to refute the picture which IMO tries to paint a misinformed view.

If America collapse, then the World will collapse, if the World doesn't collapse first! It is because of Americans that other countries have any type of an economy! Think about it, Russia and China can sleep in the same bed all they want but Russians ain't buying all that Chinese crap like Americans do!

We need TV's in every room in the house and 5 cars in the driveway, lol. No other country in the world is like us! The world should be more concerned about Greece's default or China's housing market! Portugal and Spain aren't looking to promising either!!!

Even America's poor live a lavish lifestyle! There was a story not to long ago about some poor country peoples eating mud to survive. MUD!!! You try to tell the welfare recipients here that they can't buy junk food with their benefit card and America will burn up in flames!!!
