UTEP Miners visit TULSA Golden Hurricanes

UTEP visits TULSA

Tulsa has been just chewing up opposing teams on both offense and defense against competition at about the same caliber as UTEP miners.

A little sloppy play early in the year seems to have been addressed by the coaching staff.

One doesn't need to look at a whole lot more than that stat-wise...it all looks good

The only question at the moment is do you lay the big number currently 14’ -15…...this number is just a little low.

So now let's turn to UTEP and let’s see what area of the different units the Miners have been working their magic..It has been special teams

C-USA weak sister, Tulane actually dominated on field performance vs UTEP…

..but commited 5 turnovers.

Asking a lot of Miners to lay 12 points against Mustangs, but then again it was a backup QB Slater the public was looking at….and he looked as good running Mustang offense as could be expected.

The betting angle here then dissolves to Tulsa’s ability to hold the ball for 13 minutes in the quarter against a team like C-USA weak sister Memphis Tigers …a good chunk of that time being spent on a long drive of 80 yards averaging 5 yds per play.

Miners struggle against C-USA weak sister.... Golden Hurricanes dominate against that caliber of competition

Passing efficiency of Tulsa QB Paul Smith is phenomenal.

Top-notch recruits know that if they want to play right away...that C-USA and the MAC are the places to play

...but other than that.... in a conference that has to settle for 3rd – and 4th tier recruits…

Golden Hurricane coaching staff has shown it can instill discipline which has resulted in them eliminating poor performances as demonstrated against Cougars of BYU.

Lay the points up to 16’

...but an even better bet would be the under 54 points total.

...comes down to "ball control"

The ability to maintain “ball control” is a function of the coaching staff making the most of the QBs ability to sort out what is happening on the playing field.

Indeed, a small portion of Tulsa's great D stats is that they were standing on the sidelines for a good portion of the games they played.

Golden Hurricane’s coaching staff has shown that AS EVIDENCED BY taking BYU sloppy loss and turning it into a close cover as dog vs Midshipmen…

..and just chewing up everybody else.

Probably should be a 47’ point game for the o/u totals bet…don't expect Miners to put more than 14 points on the board on a good day against Tulsa since offense will be sitting down

….add a point and a half for bookie’s vig to that 47'…

….another point and a half for Bill James’s “reversion to the mean”

…….and at 54 points you’re looking at a 6% Kelly bet at -110 (divide bankroll by 17)
