Be VERY VERY careful when you go into the hopsital

Going to make this very short but lets just say that since Saturday the 14th I have gotten about 6 hours of sleep.
Saturday I was called to a scene where my 7 year old Niece was taken according to my sister. My sister is a Registered RN Nurse and has worked for 15 years in the Medical field. When I got to the scene I found my sister a mess. I interviewed her and then interviewed the store owner. Their stories did not match and as I walked across the street heading to my sister the thoughts that my sister may have killed my Niece raced thru my head. For over a year now I have been telling my parents that my sister is on drugs. It was front and center on Saturday and the best news is that my Niece was found safe in a completely different town. I am posting this to let all of you know that since this happened we have found out some HORRIBLE news. My sister has been fired from 2 other hospitals for drugs missing and NO ONE ever called th cops nor did they let her husband know. I have now learned that many people in the medical field are hopped up on drugs. Its at epidemic levels. The hospitals are not letting people know and I think its a crime that my sister was walking around on Morphin (sp) for over a year and no one did anything about it. Now we all sit wondering if she has ever killed anyone that she was taking care of. Check out your doctors and nurses because they may just be more screwed up then you ever have been. I am having a letter drafted to get the word out that hospitals are covering up the problem that has hit my family hard. My sister is a mess and I am not sure if I will ever be able to trust her ever again. Hell I am not sure if I will ever let her in my life again. Keep your eyes open I don't want anyone to fall victim to a drugged out doctor or nurse.

glad your niece is ok

For your sister , maybe get parents together
tell her as a family shes broken your trust

she'd have to say what can I do to let me in your life again ,
and you decide ...

maybe steer her towards a treatment centre or something ...

We put her in treatment center today and she will be with out contact from the outside for 1 month. I can honestly say that my entire family needs her put away. The stories the nurses she worked with are telling us are beyond anything you could imagine. We did the intevention but I have my doubts. I have never seen anyone that phucked up.
I was in the hospital for 47 days a few years back and now I am wondering how many junkies came into my room. Hospitals are a scary place fo me from this day forward.
Thanks for the nice words about my niece,

I hope everything works out man. Through some of the hardest and most unbelievable traumas I've gone through with my family personally I can tell you that unconditional love is very important. I'm glad to hear your niece is alright, and I hope 1 day your sister can make things right for herself, and make things right with you and the rest of your family.

My undergrad is in nursing....I attended law a school with a friend of mine that his nursing license was under probation for diversion of narcotics (lortab mainly). He was a great guy but an addict. While we were still attending law school he completed his probation and within 1 year he surrendered his nursing license and left law school for the same thing.

The availability and the easiness to divert meds is amazing....when I was nurse I dont think I ever bought an antibiotic if I needed it...

cman, the medical field is a mess and I believe that hospitals are hiding a serious problem. We are finding more and more stuff about my sister and some of it is so scary I can't even imagine how many people are affected. This has me writing letters to all the places my sister worked asking them to get to the bottom of what is aserious problem. Thanks for the info cman.

Steel I read a lot and in the last 3-4 years have read several articles that uncovered a lot of what you describe.

You will be even more shocked to here the conclusions they came to.

Basically, what happens is the hospital eventually finds out about someone. When they do, they worry about 1) that person staying, in treatment, and having recurring problems 2) liability for themselves and their hopsital.

So what the hospitals keep doing, is simply passing on the problem. Take that person and tell them you KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, but that you will not take action if they leave.

So in a very selfish and self-serving way, hospitals pass on the problem from hospital to hospital because IT IS CHEAPER AND EASIER TO MOVE THE PROBLEM than to DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM!

Scary scary scary! I am very sorry to hear about your sister. But your comments were correct that she is one of many, many who have these issues. She needs your help and support, regardless of how out of her mind she got. You don't have to trust her, but you should always give her some love, if you can.

For those of you that took the time to share a story or advice thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't believe the stories that nurses are calling and telling us about. While this is a problem that my sister has and its no one's fault but hers. Istill find the hospital at fault and for the life of me why they never did anything is beyond me. I wonder how many drug addicts are walking around hospitals trying to help the real sick people. I called the hospital that I spent 46 days due to illness and asked them why nothing was done when they caught my sister over a year ago. I told them that testing the nurses and doctors is a waste of time as they know their way around the tests. My sister had been caught in the parking lot in her car with a needle in her arm. Isn't the hospital at fault here and shouldn't they have to pay some kind of price for their negligence ? (sp) I go from being really pissed at my sister to sick to my stomach. The stories of what she has done boggle my mind. Any input on what avenue I should take towards getting the word out about hospitals and what they are hiding would be greatly appreciate. I may never go to the hospital again and if I do I am going to have everyone drug tested who is working one me. This is a very scary situation and something needs to be done, this hit my home hard and we all are sick to our stomachs. Thanks once again for the kind words. My Niece is safe and that we are all very thankful.

When I practiced as a nurse and was riding back and forth with the guy I went to law school with he told me about some of the diversion tactics that pharmacist, Dr's, and nurses did...example there is a morphine pain patch called "Fetanyl" what they would do is squeeze the pain meds to the center of the patch and draw it out with needle and inject into a vein. Then they would go put the patch on a patient.

Steele I am sorry about your sister but she is an addict and can find their way around any system....their behavior while criminal in nature is better dealt with in rehab then jail. I wish her well friend.

Thanks for the nice words they are greatly appreciated. This battle has reached levels I never would have imagined. It has effected every single family member and the stories that are coming out are not easy to listen to. For those of you that have been thru this I now know how secret anddeadly of a life these people live. Thanks so much for your words of encouragement.
