Macbook is all the protection you need. PC's are horrible and I will never buy one again.

Avira works very well - and it's a free download too.

Haven't used any for the last three years and not a problem.

Tried Norton, McAfee, and another one and in all three viruses still went through. Worst than that is all three were hacked through and had to remove windows and start over again. $100 per pop.

You don't need one. Just don't go to stupid websites with blinking colors and don't open emails saying I am a prince from Nigeria and need your help.

AV software just slows down your computer and can get expensive.

As a graduate student in Information Security, I can not agree with this statement. Companies like AVG and malwarebytes can be used for free and do not use the amount of memory that Norton does. These security mechanisms for you computer help keep information on your computer safe.
Simply not going to stupid website with blinking colors and opening Nigerian emails isn't enough to stop someone from infecting your machine with malware. Using someone of these free protections is better than calling someone like me to fix your computer if/when an infection comes about and locks up your harddrive. But to each their own opinion and ideas.

LMAO. I have been in IT for 10 years and have not had one virus on my computer. You don't need this programs. Just be careful with you download and browse. Easy as that.

huh? if your data is valuable to you then a simple antivirus is necessary

I use kaspersky

by the way MAcs are just as suceptible to viruses as a PC is...

just more malware is written for PCs becuase they have a monster market share

MACS are for the computer illiterate. It's 2012! The whole world revolves around computers. Take a computer class or two and catch up with the rest of the world.

I like Microsoft Security Essentials. I used to use AVG and NOD32, now I like MS.
