Visiting Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

Good day folks, I am planning a little weekend getaway to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. I would love to visit it during Hall of Fame weekend but we are fairly booked for June/July (weddings, parties etc) so we will probably make the trip next month in May.

It will take about 4 hours to get from where I am to Cooperstown, NY (at least that's what Mapquest tells me anyway)

A few questions for folks who have visited the place

1. How much time should I allocate for the Hall of Fame ? I checked the website and there are quite a few things to do, i would imagine a full Saturday from 10ish to 5 would be good enough ?

2. Any recommendations on accommodation ? We will most likely stay over for Saturday night and drive back home on Sunday.

3. Is there any other activities in the areas besides the Baseball Hall of Fame ? Things like factory outlets for the wife or maybe another museum/landmark/attractions would be ideal.

Thanks

I have not been there in approximately 5 years, but from what I remember, the Hall should take 4-5 hours to do. They have added several new exhibits since I was there last, but you should be able to do it in that amount of time. The town is filled with memorabilia stores, many of which are not worth your time. There are a few that are good (don't recall the names now however, although Mickey's Place is a good one--named after Mantle). Make sure you eat at the Doubleday Cafe for breakfast. Great food. Great atmosphere. Also make sure you bring the digital camera (with fully charged batteries as you will take alot of pics at the Hall).

Enjoy !!

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I plan to go in 5 or 6 years, but I will refuse to go if Barry Bonds IS NOT in the HoF.
