^ yeah....GF turned away and just told me to tell her when it was over.

also, Karen hitting the gas nozzle with one shot and then blowing it up with one rocket???? that was a bit much

will be interesting to see where they end up but that was a pretty intense start to the season

I agree. Said the same thing about the gas tank. Even if we accept that they're all really good shots at this point, I just don't know about the rocket thing. Was a pretty powerful little firework to travel that far, and she sure was able to nail down that trajectory without much trouble. Just stick it in the dirt at an angle, no problem.

BBC News - Walking Dead breaks US cable TV record
BBC -

It marks the biggest cable audience for a non-sports programme in the US, according to television viewing figures tracking company Nielsen.

The post-apocalyptic horror, which stars British actor Andrew Lincoln, held the previous record of 16.1m for its fourth season debut last year.

The end of the series also set a new benchmark for a finale with 15.7m.

Sunday's return to the air also triumphed in the valuable 18-49 age range with 11 million viewers. Its nearest scripted rival was popular comedy The Big Bang Theory, which pulled in 6.9 million people in that key demographic.

The serial, which is shown on AMC in the US, is screened on Fox TV in the UK.

Variety reported that the show also reached record levels for the number of people obtaining the show illegally, with piracy tracking firm Excipio logging 1.27 million downloads in the first 24 hours after transmission.

But the level of piracy for TV series Game of Thrones pushes The Walking Dead into second place, with its fourth series premiere registering 1.86 million illicit downloads.

It added that Fox has rushed the show to some 125 markets around the world in a bid to thwart piracy.

The hit show tracks the fortunes of sheriff Rick Grimes - played by Andrew Lincoln - as he attempts to survive flesh-eating zombies.

It has also featured fellow British actor David Morrissey as The Governor, who wears a trademark eye-patch.

The latest episode "ripped up the TV rulebook", according to a review in The Guardian.

It was called a "humdinger of an opening episode", constituting a "mini-action movie".

‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Beat ‘Sunday Night Football’ For Third Time This Season

The record-breaking The Walking Dead has tackled the once unassailable Sunday Night Football for a loss — again. For a second time in two weeks and a third time in the five weeks, the AMC series has left the NBC and the NFL in the demo dust. Facing a blowout on SNF last night as the Green Bay Packers pummeled the Chicago Bears 55-14, Walking Dead drew a 7.0 rating among its adults 18-49 fans. That 11% better than the 6.2 that SNF received in fast nationals.

Now yes, NBC and the NFL’s numbers will change in the final ratings, but that probably won’t change the outcome. Last week, SNF went from a 6.1 to a 6.6 rating in the key demo — still 13% less than the Walking Dead’s number. When the zombie apocalypse series debuted its fifth season on October 12, it pulled in an 8.7 result in the demo; SNF was far behind with a 6.6 in its final national number. This season is starting to look like WD is a big-market winning team that plays every week in the big show.

Hard numbers to hard numbers, Walking Dead had 8.82 million watching among the 18-49s in its 9 PM slot. Chicago Bears v Green Bay PackersSunday Night Football had 7.9 million tuning in from the demo for its primetime airing. Hour-to-hour, last night’s game had a 6.6 rating in the demo with nearly 8.4 million watching among adults 18-49 in the 9 PM slot. Comparing total viewers, Walking Dead had 13.53 million tuning in last night to the 17.30 million who watched the SNF game that started at 8:30 PM.

Last night’s Walking Dead win is a record of a sort when it comes to SNF. In the first part of its fourth season, the AMC series managed to beat the network powerhouse show twice to be the top show overall on both cable and broadcast. Those October 27 and November 3, 2013 victories were a big Goliath-slaying deal — and now oneWD has already eclipsed this season.

Having said that, Walking Dead took the gold from NBC’s broadcast of the XXII Winter Olympics an impressive three weeks in a row earlier this year.

There are still three more episodes of Walking Dead to go before it ends for the year with a midseason finale. That’s three more matchups with the NFL. When the AMC series returns February 22, football will be over with Super Bowl XLIX on February 1.

That is some serious shit when a cable tv show beats the NFL on Network television.

This show is the most popular thing out there right now and the cult following just keeps growing. Love this show!!!

Awful show now, imo. Might cut bait on it like I did for True Blood after a few seasons. At least SOA is fun. Fell asleep during the hospital episode (Full disclosure: I was hungover on the day off yesterday and we were watching the last 2 episodes in the afternoon), but still. So annoying now. Walkers getting knives to the head over and over? Wow… still enthralled with that

I thought it was pretty good this week. The next couple should be good.

Some of you surprise me. You seem down on the show but it beat football again and it is setting serious records for ratings on tv and social media like twitter. It is the most popular show on tv right now and it keeps growing so it seems to be doing something right. For every 1 person they lose they seem to gain 2 more!

I don't trust the people that just got there. Rick is about to go off and bang a married chick and kill her husband, Sasha is going to start shooting everyone from the clock tower, Darryl is going to have a 3 way with the gay guys. . . The group is about to ruin this little town.
