Weddings/Traditions/Holidays/Etc..

Whats your take?

I personally think all of the shit is a joke. Reason I am thinking about it is my gf's cousin is getting married and theyve had an engagement party so far, now have a shower, then bachellor/ette parties, and finally the rehearsal/wedding/reception. So not only is she about to marry some guy when they have no money, I now have to go to like 8 events for it and if i dont go to one im seen as a bad guy? my point is..why does ne1 want to go in the first place?

This shit falls into same categories as christmas and shit like that for me. If the stuff is such a hassle for people, why do people do it? I hate shit that requires nervous planning and preparing and all of that.

Think of all the stress that is recognized (see bridezilla/any xmas movie, etc.) with these types of events...whats the use in any of em?

It is the people that keep doing these things..my parents hate our family, but every xmas eve we go to aunt j's house because thats what we do and we have akward tension until its late enough everyone feels they can leave and we wait til next yr to do it again...why do people feel so compelled to do these things...

its too long to continue ranting and i hope i voiced my sentiments/questions somewhat

It does become overkill, you do what you can and that's all you can do .

I can't agree more. I have a big family and two three times a month its someone's baby shower, b-day, anniversary, graduation etc. Once it was five straight weekends. People stopped showing up, became a hassle. At least now everything gets grouped together for once a month unless a funeral or wedding. The worst part is god forbid you go to one birthday but not another, people get their feelings hurt.
