Weekly Review Oct 2nd

Weekly Review Oct 2nd

NFL ‘Teaser' bettors had another great day on Sunday and if it wasn't for New England's upset victory over Cincinnati it would have been an extremely dark day for us here at BetCRIS. Indianapolis, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta and Chicago were all common teams with teaser and parlay bettors. College football this week was better for Bookmakers but mainly due to a few upset victories, none better than Illinois's victory over Michigan State which I have commented on below.

Baseball is now finally finished with the regular season and Tuesday starts the first post-season games with some terrific Divisional Series match-ups. As of writing, they are,

San Diego -156 over St Louis

Minnesota -164 over Oakland

Yankees -325 over Detroit

Mets -155 over Dodgers

Best games for the house this week...

Illinois's upset 23-20 victory against Michigan State was the biggest upset for the week by far. Michigan State was a large 24 point favorite at the point spread or a massive -3000 for a straight ‘money line' victory. Having Michigan State lose destroyed most parlay bettors and killed one of our customers who lost $60,000 while trying to pick up an easy $2,000

Rutgers won by a slim 2 point margin on Friday defeating South Florida 22-20. Rutgers opened a 3-point favorite and closed higher at 4 points. The best part for us was most South Florida bettors decided to take them for a straight up victory; so needless to say, the 2 point margin was perfect for us.

New England turned a potentially disastrous day into just a bad day with their upset victory over Cincinnati. Cincinnati opened a 4 ½ point favorite and closed a 6 point favorite. Even with two $20,000 wagers at kick-off placed on New England, it still worked out to be a great game for us.

Washington had to go to overtime to defeat Jacksonville 36-30, but thankfully for us, it was Washington who won. Jacksonville had lots of betting support not only in straight wagers, but teasers and parlays especially. Between New England and Washington it at least ‘cushioned' the blow of a bad Sunday NFL.

Best games for our Customers...

Florida defeated Alabama 28-13 and landed on a number which hurt us tremendously. Florida opened being a 13.5 point favorite and closed at the magical number of 15 points with heavy support. Most people who played Alabama took either +15 or +15 ½ points, so when the game fell on the magical 15 number; it was indeed a bad result for us.

Baltimore's come from behind victory over San Diego was not received well here at BetCRIS. San Diego opened a 2 point favorite and eventually the game closed at ‘take your pick' after an avalanche of money.

Kurt Warner may have lost his starting quarterback's job at Arizona after their loss to Atlanta 32-10. Most Teaser and parlay bettors included Atlanta, and we thought we had a chance until after halftime where it was all Atlanta.

The final nail in our coffin was the last game where Chicago won 37-6 over Seattle. Chicago has been getting a lot of praise for their offense lately, which certainly goes well with their more recognized ‘stingy' defense. Chicago closed a 3 ½ point favorite and plenty of betting support, especially when Seattle announced that last years MVP Shaun Alexander was not going to play.

Until next week,

Shane Catford
