Question What athlete superstar is unfairly criticized more than anyone else?

I will say it has to be ARod.

This guy is ripped like he is some kind of dead weight or something. For some he is considered the best in baseball (forget Pujols for a minute).

I was even listening to a Yankee debate on the radio and Yankee fans were calling saying they would rather have these guys at the plate

Giambi
Sheffield
Mattsui
Jeter

Now all great players and Jeter is one of my favorites (yes even though he is a Yankee) but ARod is unfailry criticized. JMO

Who would be your choice?

That's an easy one for me - it has to be Kobe Bryant. He truly is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation with the Lakers. If he shoots too much, he's a ballhog. If he passes off to his teammates, he's sabatoging the team. I'm definitely not a Lakers fan, but living in L.A., I can say with confidence that I've never seen a superstar criticized so much for every move he makes.

Lockfinder: I have occassionally ripped Kobe as well (see present NBA thread, lol) but I do agree that he belongs on this list as well. Some of it is not fair.

It's all good, Dr. Jack. While some of the criticism towards him isn't warranted, he still deserves quite a bit of it. But still, I've never seen an athlete as good as he is, get trashed so often - and a lot of times by the local media.

I can understand the media getting on A-Rod for not coming through in the clutch, or Peyton Manning for not coming through in the big playoff games - but Kobe has never had a bad season, consistently comes through in the clutch, has won championships, is usually in the running for the MVP, and has his team overacheiving with virtually no talent on the roster besides himself and Lamar Odom. You'd think a guy with that resume would be loved, but he still gets criticized like few athletes I've ever seen.

I think it's the whole Colorado thing. He was pretty popular before that. But in the end, when he wins again - it will probably go away.

well some of it is his lifestyle choices....

If Barry Bonds is not juicing then you would have to list him as well...

I was wating for him and yes he deserves to be on this list as well. He was criticized before any of the juice accusations too.
