Angry What? Congress pass measure to deter Internet gambling

Anyone know anything about this?

CAPITOL HILL Congressional Republicans have pushed through legislation cracking down on Internet gambling.

It prohibits gamblers from using credit cards, checks and electronic fund transfers to settle online wagers. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says the bill addresses what he calls a "shadow industry" that is simply illegal.

Not quite. The government controls the money. All they have to do is freeze a companies assets in the US and the game is over. In case you live in some misconception about what type of government we have, it is simply this. Like any other government in the world, ours can basically do what it wants, when it wants to. The difference is that we have a court system that can overturn the government's actions, if they are found to be illegal or unconstitutional. But do not for a second think that the federal government can enforce this law, becuase they can.

No. They shut down all possible loopholes in the U.S. There are other ways of getting around the problem. I am really surprised that no one has figured out the easiest way of doing this. I'll just sit back and wait and see how many posts pass by before someone figures it out.

I suppose you are hinting at finding a local bookie... I think you guys have nothing to worry about... Once the bill goes to George Bush, he won't sign it then everyone will love him again..

That will never happen. He either signs the bill or lets it go thru unsigned. Either way, it becomes law. Betting on Bush to veto this is like betting on a sure loser. Why don't all of alleged gamblers out there simply open an account overseas and have your funds transfered in and out of there. Now how complicated is that? Do you really think that people who play for major money would risk having something like this (which was coming for a long time now) stop them? Did anyone in here think of this?

Well obviously you didn't or you would not be sweating this. The fact is that no one in here did, or they would have shot their mouths off by now, just like everyone, including myself, does. It is your loss, not mine. I am going to turn a very big profit thanks to all of you off shore fanatics. Since you will not be playing off shore any more, and since they will legalize this eventuall in the U.S, my stocks will slowly climb thru the roof. If you did not have the foresight to see this, then you probably know the reason why you are still in school or working for a living. You have to have some vision in life that extends beyond a sporting event. I have not seen a lot of this in this forum. Certainly when the first books got nailed by the Feds, the hand writting was on the wall. Now if you are smart, you will take some of your money that you play every week and invest it wisely, so when certain stocks doubles or triples in a year, you will earn more money than you ever could with your nickle and dime wagers (if you wager that much, which I doubt).
