What does 3PT% mean?

Okie Dokie,

What does 3PT% mean when looking at offensive and defensive stats for NCAA and NBA?

so realistically if a team is lined up with higher % of Offensive stats and Defensive stats and they are also a (-PS) favorite then the likeliness of them getting the win and a cover on the spread is more likely? as long as their SU and ATS also matches to be the fav to cover?

Yeah the % of 3 pointers made in relation to those taken for offense.

For defense the % of 3 pointers made in relation to those taken for their opponents.

You don't want a high % of threes for a teams denfensive stat in this case.

The rest of the question you ask would need to be researched throughly to give an accurate answer.

You can't make the stats comparisons into "HARD & FAST" rules.
The stats only serves to show the tendencies.

Some teams may have a great interior defense but cannot defend the perimeter shot.

Some teams are great perimeter shooters. Not many teams can defend against that.

3PT% on offense shows that team's proficiency.

3PT% on defense shows how well that team defends against the 3.

Don't forget.....teams that live by the 3s also die by the 3s.

Raptors are a great example of this.
When they are on, they can beat any team.
When they are off, like tonite, they couldn't score 90 pts.

The nature of shooting a 3 is a very streaky art no doubt.

The NBA, MLB and NFL have the sharpest lines of any sports in the world. I have known this for along time was good to see Simon Noble say the same in that post I just posted.
