Question What does "your word" mean?

Growing up - it was well known if you gave someone your word - that was gold. Nothing can break that trust. I take pride in the fact that I have NEVER broken my word in life.

Do you feel the newer generation of people feel the same way?

Does your word mean anything? Have you ever broken your word? Do you feel you know more people where their word is gold or do you feel more people are two-faced?

Describe what "your word" means to you?

I think most people would answer that it means everything but do you think most people actually live their life like that and not just in words? When push comes to shove - it's usually a good test of character.

It definitely means a lot more than "I promise"

Promise (generally) is an over used word like love or hate.

When you give someone your word you are staking your friendship on it or even more than that depending on the context.

It is a good test of character and it is something that I would only say to someone that I trust and respect enough to know that I would never betray them.

I 100% agree with this. Actually I agree with your entire response so maybe unfair to just quote this - but I agree that people throw around the "promise" word like people throw around the "fix" word around here.
