What info needed to bet NFL

What type of information does everyone use/look for when betting on NFL games?

How much do I need to know/should know on types of defenses, offenses, etc that teams play?

A lot of handicappers bet against the public on the NFL... I don't usually look at offense/defense statistics... I personally like to look for emotional situational plays and fade public perception... I do not fade the public but I fade what I believe the public perception will be... Example Dallas beats the Giants by 21 on the road, comes home and is only favored by 3 against Washington... I would fade that situation in most cases... thinking that everyone saw the Dallas romp and will jump all over the 3
