What It Looks Like to Go 462 MPH
![]() The Speed Demon race car by George Poteet and Ron Main lives up to and even surpasses its name with its ultra-sleek design and MOPAR Hellfire ‘Lil’ Hemi 4 cylinder engine. With your everyday car most likely topping out at 120 MPH, a speed of 462 MPH may seem unfathomable, but this video, shot in HD with a Replay XD1080 camera on default settings with no processing, can give you a taste. But first, Gizmodo has some suggestions to give you the best viewing experience: It‘s definitely one of those clips you’ll want to switch to 1080P, go fullscreen, and turn up your speakers if you got ‘em. The sound of the motor screaming is like a symphony of horsepower, and the shots where the Speed Demon tears past the cameras on the salt flats will certainly make you wish your minivan was packing a little more oomph under the hood. Here’s what 462 MPH looks like from almost every angle you could imagine: _________________________________ The only problem with the West Desert area of Utah, is that it's vastness and lack of landmarks make it more difficult to get a feel for how fast that car is going.
