what made you a better capper

just looking to get varying opinions on what changes people made to improve their sports handicapping. Whether is be focusing on specific sport, sticking to a single strategy, increasing bankroll, decreasing bankroll, making plays ahead of time, analyzing previous plays etc.

Just curious as to what made you better as a sports handicapper

thanks

Losing...a lot.

This made me change my way of thinking about gambling and making plays. I used to make plays just for the sake of making plays. I'm more selective now.

Still might place a small bet just because I'm interested in watching the game, but for the most part it's about being disciplined in sticking to an approach that is more conservative and analytical.

i'll preface this by saying i'm not very good to begin with lol

but since joining here a few yrs ago i'm definitely better than i was......the bankroll thing was a huge factor, i used to just throw money on games at random really...now i just use small percentages of my total bankroll....when i'm down it decreases when i'm up increases

also, i've started using a power ranking system to try and make my own "real" line and then throw in some motivation type factors and compare it to the vegas line, now i don't do a great job of following my own numbers lol but it has really been helping

Only bet what you can afford to lose.

Pick your spots.

Money management.

Experience in this trade is key.

Get older and remember what you saw before.

Right now, it is the only thing I can say is a benefit of getting older...

Learning to be a better capper by playing less games (key word here is "learning" because I'm still parlay prone) and by trying to find a stat that really jumps out at me about the matchup

i.e. Andy Reid being 12-0 after the BYE now. That stat does mean something.
