What is the most amount of money you have paid to see a sporting event?

I am a graduate of Penn State...class of 98, and tried to get tickets to Joe Paterno's Memorial Service this morning. The tickets sold out in less than 5 minutes. I then went to ebay and saw a pair that were close to $700.00.

I then thought about the time in St. Louis when my dad and I went to the Final Four and he paid $2400 for 2 tickets for Saturday and Monday.

That leads to this question, what is the most you have ever paid for a sporting event and was it worth it?

I never miss a Caps Pens game in DC. Have gone every game including the playoffs for the last 10 or so years. I absolutely hate Pitt and all Pitt teams (Sorry guys...)

The most I ever spent was game 7 of the Caps/Pens series in 2009. In the lower bowl I dropped 2100 for a pair of seats. Not worth it at all due to the outcome......

Been to 35-40 pro games (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL), I have never paid triple figures for a ticket.

Other than a few Rockies games from the upper deck behind home plate I've never sat in the upper deck of any arena/stadium.

But I've never been to a Championship type game either...

Best seats: 3rd row, 20' from Dodgers dugout. Lasorda sat 10' from me.

I've seen alot, my dad always included me on the trips with the guys....probably close to 100 sporting events!!!

1983 World Series Phillies - Orioles (don't remember much, I was 8)

1992 East Regional Duke - Kentucky "7 rows from the floor half court"

3 Sixers games courtside 3 chairs from half court "Magic - Nuggets - Cavaliers with James"

Several Eagles games, 15 rows behind the goal post (dad had season tickets)

1988 Final Four St Louis Missouri (Duke-Oklahoma-Arizona-Kansas) - We are huge North Carolina fans, they were supposed to go!!!!

Buick Classic New York

US Open Shinnecock Hills NY

Heritage Classic Hilton Head SC

Like I said before, I was lucky enough that my dad included me, when "the guys went."

I have plans for the Masters and Kentucky Derby in 2014, Myself - My Son - And my Dad!!!!

Game 1 Red Sox Yankees. Me and 2 of my friends drove down to NYC and bought 3 bleachers for $150 each.

Then we found out that they were fakes...

Have never paid over ticket price. I feel fortunate as I have been given more games then I have ever purchased. Went all the way to Boston twice to see the Steelers play. Spent 4 days in Boston both times and everything was paid for. I spent around $100 the rest was free. Thats the way I like to roll. A good friend of mine is a HUGE Patriots fan. He makes more money in a week then I make all year. Very thankful for good friends.

Have never had to pay over face value. Dont think I ever will now as sports events dont mean as much as they used to to me. Cant think of one event that I would "over" pay to see.
