is yankees/red sox for sure

several college rivalries are more heated imo - i think because the team you support is many times the school you attended - whereas pro sports you dont have that same connection, unless you played for the yankees

Red Sox / Yankees

Even at a non-baseball function, if you wear a Red Sox hat in NY (or vice-versa) you're sure to strike up a 'conversation'.

Think rivalries are not what they use to be with constant player movement and the more cyclical nature of modern sports. Still a lot of good ones but they don't compare to the old Steelers - Raiders rivalry, Cowboys - 49ers or the Civil War between Edmonton and Calgary. Not one that really stands out anymore but my shortlist would be:

NHL: Ottawa vs Toronto and Pittsburgh vs Washington / Philadelphia

NFL: Packers - Bears(maybe Vikes right now) and Steelers vs Baltimore(I know but the Browns have been bad)

MLB: Yanks vs Red Sox and Giants vs Dodgers

Historically, Bears-Packers would be on there, now Vikings-Packers would have to be close to Number 1 current NFL rivalry, especially with Favre switching sides.

Living here, you see how wild this one gets

Wouldn't be surprised if that one is re-ignited in the coming seasons though......things are looking up for the Skins IMO
